Can I run different size tires??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I bought a set of wheels with a high offset, and I put on my 245 35 19 tires. I get slight rubbing in the front when I go over bumps. So I found a set of 2 tires that are 225 35 19 and I want to put them on the front. They are new, along with my 245's.

Would that be an issue? My car is Quattro.

Re: Can I run different size tires??

    I have a similar question:

my stock Dunlops are down to the wear indicator at the front and about 50% at the rear. I have a spare pair of Bridgestone S03s (near new) that I can replace the front Dunlops with.

The specs are 225/45R17 91Y. Stock Dunlops are 235/45R17 94Y.

Now is this a good idea? The 10mm difference in width wouldn't be a problem would it?

I believe this CAN be ok, if the wheels have the SAME rolling diameter. But I would check with audi on this. I do know that rolling diameter is the most important factor.

No. If your car is quattro, your front tire size and rear tire size shouldn't deviate any more than 10mm.

all 4 tires have to be within 3% in rolling radius for Quattro and ABS, according to Audi.

    Thanks for all the replys.

I ran it through this tire size calculator: http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

It seems it's still within Audi's recommended range, the diameter difference is only 1.39%. What do you guys think?

Re: Can I run different size tires??

YES....this is just like being staggered
The numbers that are different on the tires mentioned above
are all measurements of width in mm.
I'm fairly sure there are people running staggered setups without issue...
as said before rolling diameter (heighth) and tread pattern should be similar
if not identical...You don't want one wheel gripping differently than another
or you may risk stressing quattro a bit.
