    1997 a4 2.8 QM

Going on road trip tomorrow back to the bay(highway 5) and just decided a couple days ago my front plate and bracket needs to go. And actually turned out better looking then a thought, a few unnoticeable holes and a way cleaner looking front bump.

me and my friends are gunna be blazing on the way up there you think its worth it to leave the plate off and just not worry about getting pulled over.

I plan on driving 80-85 but also have 35% tint all around, 70% windshield tint, you think the plate being off is gunna add to much to what iv got..

Re: Front plate.. worth it to take off?

LOL i have a good idea for you (just had the same dillema...)

ok, grab a pack of swishers, and just roll a few blunts (by far the best way to smoke anyway) and you wont have any paraphernalia on you like a bowl or anything and they you can just put them in the swisher box and toss them in the glove box cause even if u get pulled over you can open the box and not worry cause it looks legit...

that being said... put your damn lizence plate back on bro wtf are you trying to pull!?!? lol you cant see the front of your car when your driving anyways might as well not risk it, my gf got puller over for no front plate, just not worth them havign an excuse to pull you over with buds on board

    have fun though im jealous

Yea i read a few ways to cover up those holes from the front plate.
they make some plugs that go in, and are color matched, and theres always europlates.

Since you brought up europlates, can someone please tell me whether or not Euro plates are a legal replacement to US plates? Always wanted to know

Re: Front plate.. worth it to take off?

it definetly looks ALOT cleaner without the plate but its really not worth it if your gonna be blazing the whole ride. Better safe than sorry.

That's a no. If it was you would probably see every euro car with euro plates ha.

IMO it isn't worth it to not run a front plate, especially if there was already holes and a bracket, my bumper doesn't have holes and im not gunna drill any so I run my plate through a custom mount that brings it down on the side. But either way, your almost guaranteed extra attention for not running that plate. not worth it.

meh i have my plate off - depends on which area you live in and where you park your car - i live in SB most of the time - cops don't give a crap about plates and when i go to LA my car stays inside but the audi is no longer my DD

Re: Front plate.. worth it to take off?

Do the rare-earth magnet mod... I think it's the cleanest license plate idea.... basically, you glue the magnets to the inside if the bumper skin, then glue the others on to the backside of the plate... will never come off during driving, but you could pull it off in a heartbeat if that's how you want it to look.

I know there are also some japanese plate brackets which allow you to fold the plate up, would be simple to fabricate. If you do any shows or GTG's, it IS nice rocking the no front plate look.

Re: Front plate.. worth it to take off?

i know people who havent a front plate for years and never got pulled over. that being said, when i ditched my front plate for a euro plate i was pulled over within 2 weeks, and the cop didnt like my "forgery" or a license plate.

Re: Front plate.. worth it to take off?

I wouldn't do it if you're going to be smoking. It's so easy to smell pot inside of a car from people who've been recently smoking. Enough reason for the cop to search the car. Just isn't worth it. I'd keep the plate on OR, make brownies, cookies, candy, pizza etc.. with thc. I remember those days, good times.

Oh, and having no front plate is very easy to spot on cars. Any cop just looking for someone to bust will be all over you. Wouldn't be such a big deal, but with shit that can lead to a criminal offense.. not worth it in my book.
