    Squeaky, Whining Sound at Startup

Does anyone know what's making that annoying squeaky, whining sound when I start up the car in the morning? It's sounds like a belt, but then when the car warms up a bit or I start to move it goes away.

I'm wondering if it's something major. The timing belt and tensioner hasn't been replace for about 40k miles.

    Any help is appreciated.

    BTW, mine's a '99 A4 Avant with a 2.8L V6.

next time you hear it, get out of your car and try to find out where it is coming from. i hear the sound from my rear drivers wheel well area. i think i read somewhere that it is the air lock pump or something. the first time i heard it, i thought it was a squeeky belt, then i thought it might be the fuel pump when i realized it's location, until i found out the fuel pump is on the pass side. so i thought it might be a muffler bushing or mount squeeking at certain reverbations..

but now, i think it's an air pump.. i gotta figure it out.

post back if you find anything out

whatever belt goes onto my power steering pump must be loose because mine only squeaks if its cold out and i'm first starting the car and turning the wheel...
belts are new too... guess the tech didnt tighten them enough when he installed.
