    Power Steering flush and bleed

SImply put, if you have a nearly 10 year old A4 thats a lil long in the tooth, do it. Takes 5 minutes, and the steering is so much lighter and smoother. The pump won't whine until you actually hit the stop. I replaced my rubber lines and bled it in a lil over 20 minutes just bsin around. One of the best drivability "mods" for the dollar and time spent feels like a new car.

I changed the hoses, but if you didn't all you would have to do is jack the car up,pull the belly pan off, place a small bucket under where the rubber hoses meet the plastic lines, now undo the clamps and pull the rubber hoses off the hard plastic power steering cooler lines(these are a PITA,needle nose pliers are how I removed mine, they are single use so buy 2 new ones at autozone, pepboys, napa, etc.),let drain (a lil less then a liter will come out) until it stops dripping, slide hoses back on plastic lines(make sure you get em all the way on as the lip on the plastic line can make it a bit hard to get FULLY on if you got big hands and arms, put clamps on and tighten as much as they will go,open power steering reservoir and top off with fluid, turn car on let idle a minute or so, turn wheel side 2 side repeatedly, top off with more fluid, turn wheel side 2 side repeatedly and top off again, continue until there are no bubbles or sounds coming from the power steering system. Whip it around a lil and check for leaks, then enjoy that new car steering feel for 5 bucks.

Re: Power Steering flush and bleed

what hoses did you replace, part numbers?

I've got a very small leak which I can't find. I'm going to flush it and replace all the rubber hoses and hope it fixes the leak.

unfortunately, it is more than likely your steering rack leaking.
