    B6 S4 mainfold spacers

VAST Performance offers intake manifold spacers for a B6 S4 but there is no dyno pull on it. Was wondering if anyone has them and has a review or opinion. Thank you.

I would like to know about this as well. $160 for 5-10 hp at the wheels sounds pretty good. Are they safe to run? Throw any CEL’s?

MY buddy evan ran a plentium spacer on his G35 and it made a nice difference, I would imagine it would do the same for our cars. Pretty sure it wouldn't throw a cell.

    Re: B6 S4 mainfold spacers

JHM/VAST sent me a set of these to try on my car this summer.
I have to say that at first I didn't do a great job with testing. My test was I checked out the temp of the intake temps with my hand (they are obviously super hot) then I installed the spacers only to obviously find that the intake even after a hard run was Cool to the touch. So cool it almost felt like the car had not been on.

I felt that there was some added power. Power that definitely came form the cooling of the intake temps. I never got any CEL never had any issue with the car and the spacers. The added performance and MUCH cooler intake temps were great. This for me was just not going to stand as a very scientific approach to how well this worked.

So I removed the spacers and I have been taking intake temp readings. with a heat gun to test the intake temps Vs. the outside air temps. I have taken the temps now for quite some time. But for me I want to wait till the Middle of the summer and the 90+ deg temps to see what the intake temp is before I put in the spacers. I kinda want to test the intake temps on the hottest day and install the spacers and then REtest to see the real world TEMP changes.

IMHO this is not something that is going to change the world performance wise. But it definitely is going to help the car make better use of the incoming air by NOT preheating the incoming air. As we know heat is the enemy of performance. I would not know how much power it is going to add all I know is that it certainly is not going to hurt performance

This is the intake temp of our car on a 60deg day after normal driving. No spacers. There is a definite difference with the spacers is for sure.

    Re: B6 S4 mainfold spacers

The install is one of those 3 hours the first time 45min the next. I was so intimidated by the hoses and vac lines and wires this and relay that.

I ended up doing alot more work then I had to. I did this because I was on the side of caution and exploration. The whole thing is straight forward.

There is no need for any specialty tools standard tools will do the trick. Other then the Vac lines on the front of the motor for the intake valves. It is a breeze.

You can ask J at JHM I think he might have a wright up on it. But if not let me know or hit me up on a E mail and I can walk you threw it

Feel free to let me know if you need help with the install or if you have any other questions.

I am very happy with mine. Now remember winter is not going to show you the same gains as the summer but you are still going to see benefit form them

JHM is saying they are making some mainfold spacers in 2 weeks. Which one was better VAST or JHM?

I also had one of these on my g35, but it was a different type of situation. The manifold on the g35 angles forward and the spacer allows better airflow and more volume to the front 2 cylinders. As far as I know this isn't a problem with Audi. Has it been confirmed that this adds any power?

    Re: B6 S4 mainfold spacers

I would imagine they'd help with intake temps, since the manifold is essentially a big heatsink and it is taking in all the ambient and manifold air heat as well as the longblock heat. Using the spacers would inhibit the longblock assembly from passing heat on to the manifold.

The Nissan VQ35DE Engine sees a HUGE gain from the plenum spacers as the plenum volume is somewhat small for the engine and the front two inlet ports get choked by the reducing size of the plenum's top piece. Adding the plenum spacer allows the plenum to meet the demand of air the front two cylinders require more easily.

VAST and JHM work together to develop products. So its going to be the same thing
