    Trunk Closing Issue

I have an '05 and I recently noticed that if I let the trunk close gently or slowly it does not "lock" or fully close. For example, when you open the trunk, something mechanical happens and pops open the trunk. Shouldn't this happen when I close it to..i.e. once it reaches a set point the mechanism takes over and closes the trunk? The only way for me to close the trunk now is to throw it down with a fair amount of force.

Anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

no, nothing happens when you close it.

It has an electricly operated switch to open it, jut like any other car would have a mechanical way to open it.

metal latch is dead center in bottom. perhaps the mating part in the lid isn't contacting it correctly due to shifting or something?

    Re: Trunk Closing Issue

My buddy thought my car was like a GM from the 70s or something and slammed the trunk only to break off my orange warning thing from inside the lid. I just sighed and was like "that's 50 bucks".

    Re: Trunk Closing Issue

I just fixed it, just detach the whole locking mechanism , open the motor housing, grease the inside parts (the one wearing a spring), you are good to go, it took me 30min.
    No more slamming the trunk...
