VMR reps, blacked out emblems, and car wreck PIC content

What's up....it's been a while but I was finally able to upload some photos of the S4 with the gunmetal VMR RS4 reps....while I was at it, I snapped photos of the blacked out emblems I got from Avantnoir and the two, yes TWO wrecks I got in this week! SHIT! (neither were my fault)

I Know! I Know! I need coilovers...hoping to get Stasis SS after the holidays...

you can see here I've done the clear corner mod and have blacked out side markers....jury is still out on them but once I do a few other black out mods I think it will look good (def better with the gunmetal than with the silver Avus'

    pure sexiness...

Blacked out emblems on the ghost=HAWWWWT

well worth the wait....(haha still waiting for fronts, too lol) many many many props to Chris aka Avantnoir

SO I wake up to this Friday morning. Let the 2 days of bad luck begin..kind of a bad photo, but its the passenger side rear bumper. someone hit me while I was in a parking lot...my worst fear realized. No body damage and I think it will buff out for the most part. jacked up rear bumpers are just a way of life in LA...

sooo here's the story with this one...I was on Santa Monica Blvd in Century City, far left lane. I signal and and go into the middle lane (red light, no one in the lane whatsoever, going like 2 mph) and some dude in a mazda3 rolls from the far right lane, about 15-20 mph no signal, and on his f-ing phone with no bluetooth. jacks my shit up. my insurance says he's at fault (duh) but I guess CA is a "no-fault" state so his insurance will just claim it isn't his fault and I'll most likely have to end up paying my deductible anyways...

front head light is ripped out (but still working! lol) and you can see the hood is also out of alignment. hopefully nothing mechanical is damaged, gonna have them check that/my alignment. hoping to get a boser cf hood instead of oem...

you can see in this one where my fender/bumper/hood are jacked and maybe have to be replaced...we'll see.

the guy and myself are both fine thankfully. but the S4 does seem to idle ~250-500 rpms higher at startup especially. also, and this could just be me thinking things, but the ride (suspension wise) is a little rougher. hopefully he didn't mess anything front end or frame-wise up....

OHH and to add insult to injury, Saturday afternoon I got hit by a car on my bicycle!!! WTF?!? Luckily I'm okay the guy was only going 5-10 mph as he was exiting a driveway but the mofo didn't even ask to see if I was ok. luckily I have his license plate number....

At least this week is a short one!! CHEERS!

Re: VMR reps, blacked out emblems, and car wreck PIC content

That series of mishaps would be funny if it wasn't your real life; glad no injuries too.

Did your insurance agent tell you California is a "no-fault state"? Unless something has just changed that is not true.

Nevertheless, if your insurance is taking care of your damage it is a good & bad news proposition.

Good: you have a first party contractual relationship with your carrier because you pay them for peace of mind via your premium, thus they have a greater duty to make you whole than the other parties carrier. If they don't they are afraid of you suing them for the Tort of Bad Faith; which opens punitive damages not just actual damages.

So any little thing wrong with your previously mint S4 should be paid just make the claim very specific & comprehensive.

Bad: you might/will get jacked via increased premiums.

Hope all works out for you and your sweat S4!
    Peace

A no-fault state is where neither party is held at fault for an accident regardless of responsibility.

The tinfoil hat wearing people say no-fault states are due to pressure from immigrant advocacy groups because many don't have insurance.

I dunno why the reason is but I think no-fault is asinine.

Re: VMR reps, blacked out emblems, and car wreck PIC content

yakendo - My insurance didn't tell me it was no fault, but the office next to mine is a farmers insurance office and the guy there told me it was. then my insurance co told me most likely his insurance company will claim no fault and I'll just have to pay my deductible. Since I'm not at fault, my adjuster told me that my rates will not increase, however.

So at this point I am going to get everything fixed to absolute perfection since I am paying my deductible either way. Hopefully when my insurance co goes after his they are able to convince them to accept fault and I can be reimbursed my deductible....we will see. The $1000 on my deductible was for the holidays and/or coilovers! SHIT!

good luck with all that, it sucks you have a $1000 deductible. Mine is only $500 and when my bumper got ripped off they said I'd get up to $1350 without my premiums changing. (State Farm FTW)

    Ghost:

My research indicates California is still a fault based state, so, you should clarify this point with your agent. If they have a code section proving otherwise I'd love to have that citation; for my education..

You would ask you carrier if they can waive your deductible & seek it from the other party's carrier through subrogation.

If you are not making a personal injury claim, a rarity even in fender benders in CA, the other party should be happy to eat the cost of your deductible. Sad but true fact: it would be a lot cheaper than any PI claim; even for a little bump

    Good luck!

    Ouch.

Sounds like maybe the accident caused some sort of air/exhaust leak?

The police reports will sometimes state who caused the accident, and I do know that insurance premiums are based on how many "at fault" accidents you've got.

no fault insurance doesn't mean nobody is at fault...it means that each driver's insurance company pays for their own client's damage

there's always a determination of 'fault' so that one of the insurance companies can jack up your rates! that determination of fault often will determine whether or not you have to pay your own deductible, or if you're not at fault, if your insurer waives it.

So I'm guessing the police couldn't determine who merged into who, and therefore insurance ruled it 50/50. Definitely good for both parties since its not going to raise premiums :)

wrong. even if your insurance company finds the other driver at fault. if their company doesn't accept fault or you don't have some proof of fault (video, police report, etc.) you still pay your deductible. I am paying mine to get the car done quicker and if his insurance accepts fault then I'll be refunded my deductible.

Re: VMR reps, blacked out emblems, and car wreck PIC content

thanks for all the support fellas....it just sucks mainly b/c a)the car now has history b)it is setting back my plans for other things (coilovers!)

The insurance adjuster said my radiator housing was smashed up and the radiator was all jammed in weird. Could this be causing the high RPMs at idle? or do you still think it's an exhaust leak?

also, after its all repaired I'm going to take it to the best audi mechanic I can find and have him run through the car with a fine tooth comb before I close the claim. Is that even possible to do or does it have to be closed when I drive it off the auto body shop's lot? I am absolutely terrified of taking my car to anyone I don't know well or haven't seen their work, so needless to say I am a little nervous....thanks again

Before you settle the claim is typical, however if you have any concerns don't sign any type of release that doesn't articulate the possibility of future repairs. Furthermore, in light of the damage identified by the adjuster it seems reasonable that you expect the claim include an assessment from an Audi Certified professional.
