    Re: 2.8 a4 chips??

I been looking for people who have chipped their 2.8s to lend some insight to whether or not its a noticeable improvement.

Speedtuning has a cheaper chip too, but you need to send your ecu in.

From my understanding, with GIAC you just take it to a certified dealer and they flash it for you which takes a few minutes.

....Also I believe GIAC just recently lowered the price on the 30V 2.8 Chip.

Yep just checked, they show it as costing $250 on their website. For reference the 1.8T file costs $300.

you arent gonna see huge gains from a 2.8l just using a software remapping. this is due to the fact that its not a turbocharged engine. if you want large gains, get a pes supercharger.

I know this has been covered before but I'd still like some info from people who do have it too. All 2.8 guys know the change isn't drastic but does it make the ride more fun??

Thanks for your great insight, but im simply wondering what kind of effects the reflash to 93 octane performance has.

I think it's worth it.. there is better acceleration but the main difference I noticed is throttle response is much quicker.

really? because i have the GIAC software and its barely noticeable.... is yours DBW? however removing the speed limiter and raising the rev limiter are nice. the throttle reponse is a LITTLE better.

    Re: 2.8 a4 chips??

I used to run a Speedtuning chip before going s/c, and i did notice an immediate improvement. It's a modest improvement and at least makes the car a little more driveable.

If you're stuck with the 2.8, and getting a 1.8 isn't an option, save your pennies and go s/c

The SpeedTuning Chip is said to be the very best, period. Search on here and audiforums.com for a good review. I believe A4Effort did the best review.

Quick over view of the reviews.

    1. Does a good job of getting rid of the crappy peaky power curve.
    2. More mid power.
    3. Overall much better performance all around.
    4. I believe there was also much better tq.

I got my flashed by unitronic here in Canada, and I would say it was worth it. It cost me $350, which is almost the cost of those outrageous intake kits you can buy lol. As for improvement I definetly saw some, and it doesnt bog down in the mid range anymore. Definetly worth the money if you want to have alittle more fun, ohya it raises the redline aswell. Personally I would go with whatever is the cheapest, and Speedtuning seems to be it.

Why does a reflash have to be so expensive?

    Re: 2.8 a4 chips??

Honestly I would rather have my car flashed than cold soldered. I heard alot of the GIAC guys had problems with the soldering job screwing up their ECU. As for the cost yea it is expensive but they can charge whatever they want aslong as it is in demand.
