    Help - Hood stuck OPEN

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've seen lots of threads about hoods being stuck closed, but mine is stuck OPEN. When I drop it to close it, it bounces back up. It seems like the latch went to the closed position or something thinking that the hood was down.

Any ideas how to fix this? I don't want to try slamming it any harder because I know what's happening isn't normal. The U-shaped latch on the actual hood is slamming into two silver bars on the latch mechanism on the frame of the car. It's like those two silver bars are locked in place and not allowing the U-shaped part from the hood to engage.

Re: Help - Hood stuck OPEN

    UPDATE:

Ok, I got it to close, but I had to manually push the release lever back to its starting position in the driver's footwell. When I pushed the release lever back to its starting point I could drop the hood and it would latch.

For some reason I have to do that every time I want to close the hood now. If I just pull the release lever, pull the lever in the grill, and then open the hood, I can't just drop it back down to latch it. I have to go back into the car, push the release lever back, and then go drop the hood.

    Anyone seen that before?

put some oil in the latch be careful with that shit cuz if you break the cable it will be a bitch to open it after..the cable has a ball at the end, you can unclip the cable from the latch and drop some oil in it

I had the same problem. Tried some silicone spray to no avail. Had to replace the whole latch system. Wasn't too pricey though, which I was surprised about.

After driving around a little bit, it seems to have fixed itself - I don't have to push the inside release lever back to the starting position. Whew!
