Re: Anyone install the new Pioneer AVIC-F700BT

i installed the f900bt in my b7. im sorry but i have no pics. its plug and play with the vw/audi aftermarket radio adapter harness and the radio antenna adapter for normal fm/am channels. you can find them at any strauss, autozone or any car install shops. be careful of the prices that the private car install shops because they might hit you over the head with their price . just tell them the year of your b6 and they will give you the correct one. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Audi-...5fInstallation

you will need to buy the double din dash kit. break off the middle piece that goes horizontally very carefully and sand it down to make it look nice and smooth http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/AUDI-...5fInstallation

for the sirius radio, you will need this http://cgi.ebay.com/Pioneer-CD-SB10-...3A1|240%3A1318

make sure you tell them what year your b6 is so you get the right parts. the pics are only for illustration purposes so you have an idea of what they look like. keep in mind, if you get the pioneer, you have to purchase their products so that they are only compatible with each other... good luck!

Re: Anyone install the new Pioneer AVIC-F700BT

So i have pulled the trigger and just ordered the AVIC-F90BT i got the top of the line F series. Now would just like some input on what install kits were used to fill in the gaps around the double din unit since we have the corporate panel as our stick radios. Please post up what you have used as well as pics. Also if anyone knows what harness is needed i'd love some help with that also. Where and how much it cost to have it installed, and if anyone did a DIY install post up pics as well as instructions on how to do it.

    thanks

heres the avic-f900bt installed in my 2005.5 a4 2.0t. the pics of the radio are up close and you see the gaps but you cant see it while your sitting upright in your seat. unfortunately im putting it on ebay tomorrow. i got sick of using the hitting the touchscreen to change the sources. it comes with the hd module, ipod adapter, radio harness, and dash kit. i had it installed for about a month. i missed the steering wheel controls especially since i got the car last month... the steering wheel controls were a dream!

crutchfield has something you can buy to keep the steering controls with an aftermarket head unit

This is great information to have. I'm sure the basic install is not too difficult. I'm curious however as to where you located the nav antenna? Is it on your dash or inside your glove compartment? Thanks

i have the antenna sitting on my dash. pioneer supplies u a metal pad that which is adhesive on the buttom of it so that u can mount the gps sensor on it. the sensor needs to me on the dash so the satellites can be picked up. the pad is 3 x 3 inches in size. it also has to be on a flat surface. if you have anymore questions, id be more than helpful with any concerns.

Thanks for the info. I think I'm probably going to try and tackle it myself. Was it difficult to feed the cable up through the dash? Basically what I'm concerned about is having to take a lot apart to get the job done.

That's kinda weird because the RNS-E antenna can be put behind the guage cluster.

I am honestly inlove with my unit so far. I will post up pics of the 90bt installed in my 05 s4 because the pics from the other guys install doesnt do any justice. Not to sh!t on him but whoever did his install did a real bad job. I have no gaps, you dont see the cage or anything at all and all works perfect. Ill have pics up tomorrow for everyone

I did the install myself, it was a rush job in which it took me 20 minutes and i only drive it on the weekends. its flush right now since i got the pioneer vehicle specific dash kit.

I've looked at multiple installs of the F-series AVICs and none of them seem to note where the VSS, illumination, and parking brake signals are coming from. Is there a special interface that I'm missing?

I love my Pioneer Avic-f900bt although its not in an Audi. I wish your pics still worked soo I could see how it looked installed in a Audi. Was planning on swapping mine over eventually into an Audi and would have loved to seen what I would be looking at.

    Darn! :/ Ha.

Illumination is orange (At least it is on my 2000 S4 with Bose) and matches the factory harness...Almost everyone does the bypass for the parking brake and I didn't hook up VSS - I don't use VSS Audio adjustment and the nav is good enough as is.

I installed an F700 in my wife's Mountaineer a few weeks ago. It didn't need the VSS signal (in fact the F700 doesn't have the connection, though I think the F900 and F90 do, not sure), and you will get illumination including dimmer from the harness you will wire up to it. The hardware bypass is really easy for this unit, see the link below.

I also installed the GPS antenna under the dash and it works great, just put it on top of the cluster like you would with the RNS-E.

Re: Anyone install the new Pioneer AVIC-F700BT

I already have the hardware bypass on my harness, and the F700 doesn't need VSS, so where does ACC power come from? I'm sort of scared to tap into anything behind the dash. Is there any easy way to do it? I'd love to save $100+ from buying a Connects2 harness.
