A4 Quattro came with this tires , they seem fine in the rain, but how are they in the snow?

I live in the Chicagoland area. The car came with nearly brand new p6 so i'd hate to get new ones.

I ran them through winter up here in Canada last year and they weren't that bad. They hardly ever lost traction unless I was trying to . However, saying that I did upgrade to some michelin pilot PA2 winter's this year which are quite a bit better.

So you'll be fine running them this winter but if you want that extra feeling of safety, I'd go with some designated winter tires.

Re: How are the oem Pirelli P6 Tires in the snow?

they're sucky, but if you've never had snow tires before and are used to 2 wheel drive, you'll think they're ok.

Remember, quattro helps you go, tires and brakes help you stop. If you drive in any significant snow or ice, snow tires will help keep you safer. When it comes to traction, 4 x 0 still equals 2 x 0, which is to say, 0, so please don't get a false sense of security if your car has quattro, choose the right shoes for the season. And then get some killer summer tires to really unleash your car's handling next summer!

How hardcore a snow tire you get depends on the conditions you drive most in, and your willingness to give up a bit of dry handling to get safer snow/ice handling. Many posts on that here and on audiworld.

    Cheers, and travel safe!
