How to replace CVT filter? Anyone DIY?

I would like to replace the filter inside my CVT gearbox as I think its causing car to jerk before coming to a stop.

The local dealer here does not have the knowledge to change the filter inside the CVT gearbox. No garages either have confidence or knowledge to change it so I'm stuck with a dirty filter. I'm thinking of helping my garage to carry out the work but what exactly is involved? Has anyone replaced their own filter? Does replacing it require the CVT unit to be completed removed from gearbox or filter is exposed as soon casing is removed?

    Thanks!

To my knowledge the CVT gearbox does not have a filter. There is a secondary or auxiliary filter (forgot what it's called) that is near the front bumper and is like $400 to replace.

I found this out by checking diagrams from the ebahn manual.

    Hi

This is what most owners think and dealers will tell us. However, there are two filters on the A4 CVT gearbox. One is the cylinder shape filter mounted on the housing of the gearbox with other inside. Part number for the filter (strainer) inside the gearbox housing is # 01J301517D.

What you mentioned at the front is the oil cooler for the gearbox.

Anyone have any ideas how the internal filter for the CVT is changed?

    Thanks

    J
