HORRIBLE vibration, bad gas mileage, CEL

    Hey guys,

I noticed a few days ago that as I was accelerating, I felt a horrible vibration come through the gas pedal. I pulled over and opened the hood, and the engine was shaking, it's normally very quiet. I can hear almost a sputtering coming through my exhaust and my gas mileage has gone from 26-30 mpg to 11 mpg ON THE HIGHWAY. I got my CEL code read and all it said was cylinder 2 misfire and secondary air incorrect flow something or other. Has anyone else had this problem? Or some good advice as to where to start? I've looked all over the internet for people with these same codes, but it seems the SAF code issue does not come with any vibration, and we replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs not too long ago (rpms stay stead at idle and while driving).

The only other issue I've noticed except for the vibration is that over 3000 rpms, the gears on my display start flashing and I immediately lose power.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!

Even though you replaced your coil packs it sounds like another one has gone bad. Unfortunately it's not all that uncommon. Your other issue (I assume it is this code) clicky click will not cause the issues described. It only has to do with the SAI pump during a cold start. Probably one of the SAI hoses are leaking.

#2 coilpack... trust me. If you want to make sure it's that before you buy one while the car is running remove that coilpack and see if the shaking becomes worse/ stays the same. If it stays the same it's definitely that one.

i replaced the #2 coilpack last week and the vibration is still there... i mean, unless i replaced the wrong one, but it was the only one that was a year old. last time i had to replace the coilpack the rpms would go up and down at idle, and now my rpms are steady, just with a crazy vibration. it's the worst taking off from a dead stop, it pulls really bad and goes away when i take my foot off the gas pedal

sounds like ignition... like everyones saying coil packs.. new coil packs doesnt mean they're not faulty.. also check spark plugs..

With the car at idle unplug the clip to the #1 coil pack. If the idle gets worse plug it back in and try #3. Same thing, if idle gets worse try #4. If any of them fail to make a change in your idle you have found the bad coil pack.

    i'll check them.

so the SAF incorrect flow code wouldn't cause the vibration i'm feeling?

No. The SAI only operates for the first 90 seconds or so at cold start up to protect the catalytic converter.
