ok so i got a sirius sportster 5 for my birthday... so i go out yesterday to a reputable local car audio shop (cause best buy said they 'cant' do it) and car electronics and myself dont mix well... anyway i go to pick it up and the guy explains how he cant get signal from car antenna not the sirius one?... i know nothing about car audio esp. this car... as he was trying to explain to me why the signal was horrible he said he could get my signal better but i would need a part that no one makes?!?! he says i need antenna adapters.. i need one from factory antenna to aftermarket radio and from factory antenna to aftermarket antenna??... searched and found none of these parts

he also tried to explain it to me how like fm transmitters from like ipod dont work in our car either?

searched AZ and found basically nothing on this topic for our cars???

can anyone eduate me on how to make this work or find the parts?

the shop said if i found a way to make it work he would do it for free but he couldnt find anything??

    anyone care to help??

im so frustrated ahhh this is why i took it somewhere!!

    Re: satellite radio help please

i just bough myself a Sirius radio too... i'm using the antenna that came in the package, and gets a perfect signal..

i don' know if you know, but,.. there's an FM transmitter built-in most sirius radios.. hook up the included fm transmitter antenna and put it somewhere in the rear of the car,..i guess the car's fm antenna is in the back....

however, now i'm using the casette adapter, much clearer.... i'm gonna find a way to hook it directly to an auxiliary input or something -there's less quality loss-.

    hope this helps
-It's got nothing to do with your vorsprung durch technic, you now.-

    Re: satellite radio help please

you need a 40vw10 and 40vw20 antenna adapter and a sirius fm modulator. The fm mod is 35 and the adapters are 17 each. Then you tune your station to 88.7 or something and set that on your sirius for 88.7 as well a,d viola, perfect reception. Regulations have channged in the past 4 years or so so the built in wireless signal is shitty and you need this to get a good reception. The install is easy man if you can get your radio out. I always hardwire the power adapter in behind the radios to avoid having to plug it in the little cig outlet. If you hardwire it, make sure you dont cut the converter off, just run wires off of the metal thats coming off of it. The tippy top is 12v, and the side metal is ground.

thanks for response.. yeah im not sure where they put the sirius fm transmitterbut they said they also used the "booster" that came with it and it did no good... ill have to call them when they open to see where they put it... but they knew the antenna was in the back of car so i dont know why they would put it in the front

also let me know if you have any luck with that aux input.. cause the sound quality with my radio tuned on an fm station is garbage
