Alota gas stations have been busted for using more ethonal then claimed. Gasoline has recently ::last 10 years:: started to be blended with Ethanol, on most pumps it will have a disclaimer saying 93 octane 15% ethonal. Yet, due to ethanol's cheaper price many gas stations use up to 35% ethonal for a higher profit margin.

ps, i know how ya feel. I've got 6 papers due by monday....... fun

How bout the fact that the west coast, where our oil pipeline comes from (Alaska) is more expensive for gas than the east/midwest. Or that the westcoast doesnt get 93/4 octane 91 on most occasions.

North American gas has a higher sulfur content in it than in Europe. In the mid 90's BMW and a few other manufacturers started using nikasil lined cylinders in their engines, in europe it wasn't a problem, but in north america, moreso on the east coast the cylinder liners quickly wore out due to the higher sulfur content.

another thing worth mentioning is the octane, in Western Europe (don't know about Eastern), the lowest grade available is octane 95.

in europe, they use a different measurement of octane
