    A6 Acceleration Hesitation

    2001 A6 2.7T 60K:
From stop position, acceleration is hesitant, and flat. Problem is sporadic, probably 50% of the time. Otherwise it seems normal. Temperature seems to make no difference. It takes pumping, or jogging the pedal to make it kick in. Problem has been evident for over a year or so, and the check engine light has appeared, but only recently. Mechanic said that the engine light code was a Catalytic Convertor pre-heater. Are the two related, or only coincidental, otherwise any thoughts on the hesitation issue?

The car wouldn't misbehave when in the presence of the mechanic.

    Thanks

    Re: A6 Acceleration Hesitation

Could be anything from a faulty O2 sensor to a boost leak. Scan for codes with VAG-COM or OBD2 reader at Autozone and post back.
