I need some help

i took my car in to Rockville Audi on monday to diagnose a rapid "ticking" noise from bank 2. I was told that Id need a new cam adjuster.. today I get a call from them stating I need a new motor because I have metal shavings in my oil pan .. so.. anyone know of a good place to get a motor rebuilt near Laurel? Or know of anyone with a 2000 B5 motor for sale?

i know Ed at induktion had a motor at their shop for sale a few months ago. not sure if its still there. i just had both my heads rebuilt at a machine shop we use at my shop, they gave me a good price but ill admit they did take their sweet time with it. but like i said the price was right and they did a good job. pm if your interested, i can set you up with them.

If it ends up just being a rebuild Burtonsville Performance Machine is just off of 198. I've dealt with them on tons of Audi heads and even a 2.7t block clearancing so I know they can do it. Plus turn around time with them has always been very good.

Thanks for the advice everyone, Im going to try to get in to Induktion or RAI early next week for a second opinion. I really hope it can be rebuilt, because this is my daily driver and i dont have to funds to get a new motor.. Ill keep you posted.

I might have a motor from a 2001.5 with 80K on it on Tuesday. It was a TIP though so im not sure if you can convert it to a 6speed but I figured I would let you know. I would give you a good deal on it since you would be local.

Im on my out the door to go to work and didnt get a chance to fully STFA but I gotta know.. since my motor is out and torn down, should I stick with my K04s or should I opt for GT2860RSs? I read some stuff last night that says they are insane but i also read stuff that said stay away from them.. Id like to have a decision made by noon today. Anyone S4 guys running this setup within 50-60 miles of Laurel willing to give me some advice or take me for a ride before christmas?

BTW.. my car wasnt too bad off, lack of oil pressure to the cam tensioner was the problem. It caused some chipping on a couple of cam lobes. There were some other things they found but I cant recall it all off the top of my head..

imo, go gt's.. ko4's are nice, but there is much bigger and better things out there. ko4's have been the choice for some years now, because this forum swears there is nothing better and everything else is trash and shit.

Look up a few of the twin GT cars, but then again, it depends what you want from your car. The gt's will take a little bit longer to spool, but wont die in the top end as bad either. you can see 500+ on pump gas wth the GT's (altho a local guy claims to be making 525-540 on a cammed and rs6 ko4'ed s4 on 93 so who knows).

So are you going to put aftermarket rods in your motor during the rebuild?
