Well got a new toy to play with this weekend at the track. It is a Raptor Shift light with launch mode. Going to try and get some video while racing.

    Was very easy to program.

    launch light - 6500-7k
    shift light - 8200 rpm

Nice. Looks like a bike handlebar light.

    Blinding?

I'd be willing to give it a try, there's a couple corners I can think of that I could use that on.

The led lights are pretty bright but it does come with a colored cover for at night. I put it all the way forward so I can see it while staged to launch and looking at the tree, then still be able to see it while looking at the car in the other lane.

    Re: New toy

So they're white LED's and you just put the cover over it? Seems simple enough. How big is the controller?

You going to break into the 10's this weekend, or still waiting on a cage?

Mine are blue LED's, they also come in Ultra Red, Amber and Green.

Its pretty small, should be able to fit it into the vent.

No cage yet. I am really just going to test the shift light, test running more boost and try to get some vids from inside the car.

it fits in the vents... im been running the single step one for about 8 months. i have it in the left vent by the window. without looking at it, its lights bright enough to see it without focusing and tells me to shift. i actually have the clear/opaque cover on it to dim it down a bit. I also have a toggle to it so i can turn it off when im not feeling so spirited

that's prolly what I would do; however, just be a good driver and know when to shift.

It isn't about knowing when to shift, its about shifting at the exact rpm and there is a huge difference.

    Re: New toy

    exactly.

Knowing when to shift and hitting the sweet spot >90% of the time is the difficult part.
It makes that much more of a difference when you make the same power every run.

Run two identical cars side by side, but have them shifted differently, you get a huge difference in time and usually trap speed too.

On a 1bar chip you'll hold boost longer than the 1.3Bar people (14-15psi vs 18+psi).

Drag racing I found that 6,000-6100rpm is ideal for me and my driving style (18psi), some say that lower than that will actually help, I haven't had enough time at the track to try much lower. I did notice a difference between shifting at redline (6500rpm) and shifting ~6K made my car a smidge faster.

Around the twisties, I'm not usually paying attention to the rpm's, I'll usually bring it to 6.3-6.4K

Yeah its really going to depend on the chip. You can push 1st gear a little futher then the rest of the gears. Back when I had my K03 pushing 20psi I took it to 6k in 1st and then 5500 for the rest. A good trick is to watch or data log the mph, when the mph starts to peak/stall its time to shift.

BTW I posted a new thread with a video of one of my runs from today.

Doesn't matter at the top of 3rd my little SMIC is so heat soaked 4th is almost useless.
    I get ~8-9mph out of 4th gear

I should do some more logging, and another CAPS pull. It's 25*F outside.

    Re: New toy

I have one. I just didn't have the $$ to get a custom hot side piping made when I went to install it. Lack of communication and some fool (me) didn't pay attention when he bought the piping for the install.

That and I don't like how the piping would have to be routed, and I don't want to mount the I/C core upside down.

    I has a FMIC
