    new turbo - pressure loss?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hey guys - Just replaced my k03 with another unit (save money for later). Got everything hooked up after a bit of work, and it was working fine last night.

I ran it a bit hard at wide open throttle a few times last nite - and only thing that happened was the charge pipe blew off, but that's because i forgot to tighten the clamp around it. Regardless, I go to drive it today, and it's acting a bit differently. It's not holding the pressure it was last night. I dont see more than a tad over 10psi and its struggling to get there. Also, I heard what sounds like an exhaust bolt rattling under the car under acceleration - any thoughts on what the problem could be?

    Thanks in advance

edit: the car is a '98 a4 1.8tqm with GIAC stage 1 flash and nothing else

nothing in the charge pipe. I've lost progressively more and more pressure every day. Barely pulled 5 psi last night. Think wastegate is busted. Not happy at all. This guy is going to get an ear full

bump- no one has any advice for me? My car sounds like it's really straining! It sounds like the wastegate to me but how could that be after 1 day worth of use?

check and see that all your clamps are tight. Do a pressure test to the intercooler pipes. if thats not it, check your N75 valve.

Re: new turbo - pressure loss?

N75 is brand new - didn't touch the inter cooler piping, all is tight. Weird though - ever since the charge pipe blew off (it ran fine that night) I've lost 5psi max output per day basically. 20psi the first night - 15psi the next day, 10psi on a highway drive two days ago, and it wont hit more than 5psi now. I suppose I'll pull the charge pipe off and see what I can do but i honestly highly doubt anything got sucked up into it.

This wasn't an OEM k03 mind you - it was a cheap ebay k03 that was falsely advertised as a KKK. Don't worry, i made a stink about it.
