    I need new HID bulbs

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok, I searched already, didn't find what I was looking for.

Where can a get decently priced 6000k bulbs for my s4.

55w vs 35w bulbs both work with stock ballasts?
I'm not looking to replace the ballasts unless you guys know of a good deal for a 55w kit.

Any good ebay links? The price range seems to be large for just bulbs.

    Thanks!

Ok. 55 watt HID kit for 115 shipped. http://www.ddmtuning.com/hidkihidbuhi.html These are the ultra slim ballasts.

edit: Apparently there is a sale going on. Cheap 55 watt kits.

Re: I need new HID bulbs

I actually just ordered some H1 bulbs from Retro Solutions for the wonderful price of 80 dollars. Anyway, if I can't figure out how to set up my LED headlights with the HID kit, I'm selling it. So at the moment my for sale ad I guess is on hold?

edit: Hahahaha sorry Mike! It wasn't my intention! My garage is heated but it was made to fit a car from the 50's. AKA its small. You can get in, its just a tight fit. Not like I can get down my driveway anyhow.

Re: I need new HID bulbs

I have a few random questions..... whats the difference in lighting with a slim ballast vs a regular sized ballast, and will the D2S kit work with out any modification in the bulb socket?
    l gotta-- l gotta get

Re: I need new HID bulbs

Hey tommy I didnt have to mod the socket at all. I have retros 55w bigger ballast so it didnt fit in the stock location but I am pretty sure the slim ones will. I think the slim ones are the newer ones, new technology smaller size Im guessing.

Re: I need new HID bulbs

Yea, the slim ones just have newer technology so they are able to put more into a smaller package.

My H1 bulbs arrived this morning from Retro Solutions (damn fast shipping 2 days). However one bulb is broken at the base, but still works (how that is possible is beyond me) So I need to order yet MORE H1 bulbs.

The 55 watt kit is BRIGHT. Blows the 35 watt out of the water (I had one on my last A4).

Re: I need new HID bulbs

I think they will send you another one. Just shoot him a pm. They have pretty good customer service. ANd yah 55w is so much better then the 35w.

Did you go with new replacement bulbs or a new setup(ballast & bulb)? For a while now I've felt like my headlights don't light the road as good as they should. I'm thinking buying some replacement bulbs for our stock ballast. So far between this thread and other ones I've come up with....

RetroSolutions-Digital bulbs(suppose to be the best on the market, but don't know how they could differ from other D2S bulbs)

Xenonlink.com-Real nice price, but don't know how great they actually perform and reliability.

Understeer.com-Not sure what brand they are and they are kind of on the pricey side.

DDMtuning.com-Real nice price, but don't know how great they actually perform reliability.

I've been running xenonlink bulbs in my car for ~1 year and they've had no fading issues thus far.

does anyone have the H7 55W 6000k kit from retro solutions? or the same kit from ddm tuning?

I know ddm is a lot cheaper i'm just trying to figure out if its worth the extra money for retro?

    Anyone have pictures also?

To replace the ballast on the 2K B5 S4, is it necessary to remove the bumper?

No just remove the headlight, the ballast is attached underneath.
