    car wash process

What is your method for washing your car?

Do you wash wheels first (with car wash or with P21s wheel wash, etc?)and then move onto do the rest of the car?
Do you wash the car in sections or all in one go (pending whether / shade)
Do you wash all sections (or car) down to towhook / bevelling level and then go around again to get the bottom most parts (skirts / bumper)?

    Share your own method

    Re: car wash process

My car wash routine is as follows:

    1) Wheels - w/ P21s, lots of water and trusty wheel sponge
    2) hood, fr bumper & front fenders,
    3) roof,
    4) drivers side
    5) trunk/hatch & rear bumper
    6) pass side
    7) rinse entire car thoroughly (take nozzle off hose and just let water run over entire car - my favorite part)

I wash (1Z perls - great stuff) and rinse each section before moving on to the next. If there's a lot of road tar, bug jerky, bird poop on the lower sections, I'll wash those first w/ P21s TAW and rinse thoroughly before doing the main wash w/ the perls.

    Rides:
    '06 S4 Avant, silver/black w/ alcantara, w/ V8 goodness - new DD (finally back in an S!)
    '07 A4 Avant 2.0TQ S-line & Ti, I-white/black (unicorn?) - w/ APR goodness, old DD, now beach-mobile
    '93 BMW 850ci, FE Red/Black - major garage queen

    Previous:
    '01.5 S4 Avant, Silver/Onyx (Sold...miss it a whole lot )
    '98 BMW 328ic, Cosmos/Grey/Black (Sold...miss this one a whole lot, too)

    Re: car wash process

I use two soft brushes and rince it out after each section by blasting water through it to push the dirt out. I also rince each section after i clean it to make sure i didn't miss any spots but i usually do each section twice anyway. Let the brush do the work, don't push it onto the car.

first brush does everything above the top of the wheels starting with the hood.
second brush does everything below the top of the wheels. then i use a wheel brush to do the wheels with the same type of soap i used on the body, for heavy sports i use the wal-mart biodegradable degreaser (watered down if used on body paint). also with the wheel brush i give the wheel wells a good once over.
then if i feel like it i use a sponge and do the door sills and jams and dry the car off with a soft cotton bath towel thats been freshly washed and chamois.

I also power wash inside the wheel wells, and behind the back bumper at the car wash every month or so.
the B5 S4 is like the mafia... there is only one way out!

    Re: car wash process

The best way I've found is working from top to bottom, one panel at a time, this prevents dirty water from dripping down the rest of the car and reduces water spotting. Wheels come last since they are the dirtiest and you don't want all that gunk going on your paint. I don't use anything special, mr clean pro kit works magic and microfiber mitts, using rags for the rims. If it's been a while I'll use a dawn solution first.

The fnish on my rims is toast so I just use the mr clean solution, if they were in better condition I would use some kind of soft wheel cleaner instead though.

Wheel wells get 1700psi every two weeks. And once a week if it's rained alot or during the winter

^^^ What he said, I always spray on a rim cleaner on all 4's and let it soak for a few minutes, then I tear it up.

    Cargo,

You have a black car so you need to pay more attention. Here's a great link for you:

    http://www.adamspolishes.com/t-videos.aspx

I have a bucket with grid guard, firehose, 2 groupt sponges from Lowe's ( http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...9653-962-K-28P ), dry towels (do buy these..the BEST towels at BEST PRICE: http://www.autopia-carcare.com/mf-204.html ) and some chemical spray for wheels/rims...these are the essentials.

Wash the wheels first and DO NOT get the car dry until you clean all the wheels...

Follow the video clips and you'll learn a ton!
