Where do I get a Color DIS

Hey b6'ers! Got a question for you! Decided to keep my a4, and not sell... So I just bought the RNS-E from Navparts and they where explaining to me how the Color DIS instrument cluster shows the navi instructions!! My b6 has the red display, so im going to upgrade it... Where can I buy (other than at the stealership) the Color DIS? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't know where you would find one but I would have to agree that its probably not worth it. Did you know that you can still get directions on the DIS with the monochrome one you have?

You need a new s4 DIS with less than 25km's I believe to set it up with your car with no problems. If you get a used one with more km's I recall that resetting the km's is a REAL pain in the ass and only the dealer can do it.

I had to purchase a brand new one from the dealership S4 one.
There's no other way.
A "USED" one will not work. Be Warned.

Once the unit gets "burned in" with your car, it will not work with any other car.

it was over a grand at the dealer for a brand new S4 one.

It's extremely easy. Two plugs, Just remove and switch to your new one.

10 minutes. Ok, 15 if you're drunk, missing two legs, and have trouble and bent over once too far.

The question inevitably becomes whether you can justify spending that amount of money for a Turn by Turn visual pop-up guidance system in your tach display. When in fact, the navigation itself is more than sufficient for your display needs.

I failed to mention. You need to have it installed at the dealership because the immobilizer needs to be programmed into the new display. This can only be done at the dealership. nowhere else.

You're going to ask, I know. So I'm saving you the trouble now. It can't be programmed with vag, help from your alien friend name Cowbell, or your Mcgyver sidekick you carry in your trunk who knows how todematerialize matter using only a rubber band and a piece of hair from his eyebrow. The Answer is NO.

I get the Nav displayed on my red display. Even though mine is B7, I think it should be the same for you. Simply recode your instrument cluster:

STG 17 (Instrument cluster) -> Adaptation -> Function 10 -> Channel 62
+01 - Radio
+02 - Telefon
+04 - Navigation
+08 - Telematics
+16 - Instrument Cluster
To add navigation, add +4 to the current value.

The Red display will show step by step directions, but it is necessary to turn Nav on first then power off unit, then on again. This will pop up the display on the red cluster.

Yes, this works for me but I don't have to turn it off and on for it to show up. It works the way its supposed to.

good to know.. i think ill just keep this one (red one) and save the money for like e-codes or side blades lol... a grand for a display?!? wow there out of there minds!
