Debating between wheels... Both sets are going to end up costing about the same, so looks is all that matters. What would you go with?

personally if you want a decent looking OEM wheel, i would go with S8 or b6 S4 wheels. 17 Avus are played out. Or rs6 wheels would look good on an avant

Both of those wheels are amazingly heavy. I'd have a powdercoater tweak those Fliks and swap for some Audi centercaps.

Wheel weight makes as much of a difference in daily driving and ride comfort as it does on a track. Switching from the stockers to the 15.5 pound Kosei wheel made a dramatic difference on the S4 on just about any type of road, accelerating, and braking.

    Re: 17" S4 Avus or 18" Audi A8 12-Spoke?

S4 is 28 pounds, A8 is probably similar. I swapped regularly from 22 pound BBS RKII with Pilot Sports to 18 pound Flik Lex with Toyo RA-1s and noticed a difference. The car just feels more snappy and responsive with the lighter sets.

Depending on your intended pricepoint, there are a lot of options out there. I'm digging the new OZ Crono and the 22 pound B7 RS4 reps. Your choice is exactly that - yours. I've never been a big fan of the B5 S4 Avus and the A8 seem a bit too blingy. That said, the A8 is the baller of the two and much more distinctive.

    ^^ what he said.

More rotating mass (and unsprung weight) has more of an effect than most people know.

I used to have a set of 17" Avus wheels with my RT615 Azenis mounted up. Besides the fact that those are conical tires and the wheels are 1" larger than stock. The car drove weird. Going from my all seasons to the Falken's made a world of a difference in the corners, but that added weight slowed the car down.
I was using those for AutoX, the car was stock other than the TT/A8 brakes. So basically I made the car slower than it was from the factory. I didn't realize that until later.

If you're going for looks, I still like the 17's. As far as weight goes though, I'd search non-OEM wheels.
