    GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just wondering who has the GenJDM aluminum bi-pipes and what do you think of them? I really want to go with these bi-pipes to get rid of the bottle necking the stock ones have, however i just wanna get opinions on it first.

    How does the car feel?
How is the fitment? Does it clear the fan blade?
Whats your overall impression of the set up?

Any opinions welcomed... GenJDM feel free to chime in..

I did have them, but i sold them due to being tight on cash. Fitment on the Intercooler pipes and throttle body is perfect. However, you will need to remove the stock Viscus fan. Its not a Huge difference, but their is a noticeable difference.

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

I have the ceramic coated ones.. fitment is perfect, they look good, adn perform equally well. I haven't had a chance to drive the car when it is 100% yet, since i put them on with the FMIC, but after that i had a lot of problems (leaks, needed egt replacement). I left for college before i could get it perfected, but it just got fixed. I'll have it next week, and wont *hope* have anymore boost leaks.
I didn't have to replace the clutch fan either. it's pretty close, but it clears it.

why didn't you get some longer bolts and shim the fan forward with washers? thats what I would do, the fan sits about 1-2" away from the radiator, and the pipes only seem to need about 1/4-3/8 more room

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

Since I'm not a paid advertiser i cant post pics or go into great detail about my pipes, but what i can do is tell you about the stock bi-pipe and it's problems. The stock bi-pipe I cut and examined and they change shape and size 4 times and it's only 1.5 inches at it's smallest point which is right by the diverter opening. A pipe is only as good as it's smallest point and these pipes will be a restriction on any car making power, thats why the rs4 pipes are much larger from the factory just for running k04s.

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

yeah like GenJDM said, these pipes are completely straight, no weird shape changes.. only bent when needed. The openings to the diverter valves are also drastically larger. i can imagine they'd make a greater impact on a car with more boost and bigger turbos.

is there a tab to secure them to the TB covers like the stock pipes, or would i need to buy something to secure them? if not, i think one of those rubber insulated metal bands for securing wiring harnesses (commonly seen in trailers) would do the trick, you can get them up to i believe 2 1/2"

well, gen jdm pipes stay cooler, higher flow, no restriction, or reduction. The APR bipipes change shape 6 times. The APR bipipes are also cast aluminum, meaning once they get hot..... they STAY hot. I remember helping a friend about a year ago in the winter and we'd hold the bipipes to keep our hands warm.

I think Shauns setup is also wider. Even wider than RS4 up-pipes, even though they are crushed pipes.

I have TommyGunn's old ones. The quality is definitely great. I also modified mine a little. First, I had a bung welded to each one for Meth nozzles so I can change nozzle size as needed. Then I had them powder coated krinkle black like the stock plastics & my Y pipe. They look awesome and you can tell just by looking that they do not have nearly as much restriction as the stock pipes. I definitely say get them..

This dude is already spraying some alky :) I was running those pipes when I went to MIR and ran 11.83. They were hot painted black then and the nozzles were JB Welded in. But I was running dual 7gph nozzles and going thru alcohol like crazy. Between the drive there and a bunch of passes I went through about 3 gallons!! So I wanted the ability to run more conservative nozzles most of the time & increase on track days. So now I can change nozzles when ever. Plus I want to play with configurations til I find what works best. I have a pair of 3's, a pair of 5's and a pair of 7's. Somewhere in there will be a happy balance for daily use and then the dual 7's for track days.. Not to mention in winter I don't need as much meth to keep temps down.. So now I get flexibility with ease...

And JDM- I definitely recommend adding the krinkle to the options you offer. I showed them to Greg, his brother and like 3 other people who were at the shop and they were all impressed. They look hot like that, and it matches the matte black plastics from the stock engine covers, etc. as well as the paint I did on my Y pipe. I will post an installed pic too if anyone wants...

pics for sure. I just got mine in the mail today and they are uncoated, so I think I may paint mine white like I'm going to with my y-pipe. If anybody wants yet another pic of the bipipes (or his inlets) I can take some as well.

Sup everyone.... this thread actually turned out great.. good replies... anyway...
i would like to see pictures of these installed... im curious as if the engine driven fan can be retained or if any modification has to be done to keep the fan... im not planning on taking the fan out for an electric one anytime soon until i do rs6's....

so to everyone who has pictures.. please feel free to post and show everyone genjdms work.. and the overall look and fitment of the bi-pipes installed in the engine bay... we already know these pipes are functional and does serve its purpose..

    thanks everyone

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

It all depends on the person doing the install and tbb used as some have a lot of extra silicon in the opening and doesnt allow the pipe to be installed in the boot as far as it needs to be.. What i did was trimmed all the extra crap out of the tbb openings and slid the pipe in a tad further.. Also you can trim the very very edge of the fan blade a hair, but shouldn't need to if installed in the tbb right...

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

Ok gents, Pic time. First few are stock bi pipes, the rest are my krinkle black GenerationJDM pipes...

    GenJDM-

Hopefully this helps those who needed to see them.. Already have the Vast electric fan, so I am not sure about stock fan clearance. Honestly, if you have the stock fan I suggest you change it anyway. Less drag on motor, great cooling, and it gets rid of that whirlwind noise. Either way, pipes are great and that's the topic of discussion..

Re: GenJDM Bi-Pipes.. Who has them?

I saw ENDEEE's last night in person, they look great. I'm in for a pair eventually. I would get it PCed though wrinkle black, it looked awesome.

GenJDM those bi-pipes look good man. The wrinkle finish looks great and will also help "wick" heat away from the base metal. Have you ever thought about using some sort of isothermic spacer between the head and the mount for the pipes? You can find Phenolic and Delrin rods online. You could cut the rod to whatever size you want the spacers, then drill a hole for the bolt and youre good to go. It probably wont make a HUGE difference, but i know youre like me and look for every little advantage so i thought id throw it out there. Good job man!
