    Stasis Coilover adjustment

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I searched the forum and read some DIY's.

Basically the 2 easiest ways I have found to adjust the rears is compress the rear springs with a compressor and/or drop the sub frame in order to access the rear spring perches.

If anyone has suggestions as to an easier way please chime in.

That has got to be the stupidest design ever. I read Vogtlands adjust from an allen key on top and the make sense. What is the point of designing coilovers when it will end up being a couple hour ordeal?

Oh and if dropping the subframe is an alternative would anyone ahve pics of that process?

    TIA AZ's

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

Definitely drop the subframe for the rears. You can do both sides in 30 minutes with a compressor and some air tools. Sucks, yes. Easy? Yes...

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

Basically Catainobvious has the DIY and answered some questions to help me adjust it.

He reccomends dropping the subframe too but now all I want to make sure I dont go home and get stuck is pics of where the F&*% the subframe bolts are located. Captain O said there are 4 18mm bolts but where are they is the question

    Thanks again everyone.

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

yes, they are a pain in the ass to adjust ride height and dampening.

to adjust the rears, you basically have to uninstall everything, camber bolt, upper strut mount, then the subframe bolts. (make sure you do one side a time for the sub frame). you will need an alignment after all this too, obviously.

it takes about an hour or so with basic sockets.

I was about to say Jay, dropping the subframe will most definitely require an alignment afterwards. Unfortunate but hey, hopefully you have recently done a warrantied alignment. Just take it back there.

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

    This is great info.

To make things easier for myself if anyone wants to share, roughly how many threads on the bottom perch do you guys have it at?

I want the fender to ground to measure 25-25 1/4" in the rears and front.

Lastly, are there torque specs for the subframe bolts?

    You guys have been great!

I have my Koni (basically the same coilovers) settings at 2.5 inches from the top of the threads on the fronts and for the backs i screwed the perch all the way down and than 4 turns back. My front is a tad higher than the rears so i would lower the fronts just a bit.

Lowering the subframe requires an alignment, and new bolts.
The bolts used are stretch bolts (one time use).

ive never been told they were one time use bolts.... they never charged me for new ones when i had my coil installed, or height adjusted.

should i be worried? or pissed? or is this something that might have slid under the radio

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

Don't yet have these, but plan on buying. These come pre adjusted from factory, correct?

It would be awfully annoying to have to go through this process after the install to get the preferred ride height.

Id never do Stasis again.....Not bashing them jsut my preference.

Defeats the purpose of having/saying there coilovers when you need to R&R the whole suspension toget the ride height you want

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

This thread, and others like it, leave me dumbfounded as to why so many people recommend coilover kits for lowering to a 25-1/4" fender height when a simple set of H&R or Eibachs and a good set of shocks do the same thing (~25-1/4" height).

I rode in and also drove a customer's Statsis SS-equipped A4 and felt my Eibach/Koni-FSD combination was as good, if not better, in handling and comfort over his car. He agreed as much. My ride height is at 25-1/2", it carves the streets as if on rails and I don't bottom out over the worst of Chicago's cratered arterial road system. I guess if you have to have that extra 1/4" then by all means....but side by side his car and mine look no different without a tape measure.

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

well I'm in the midst of doing the rears and now I'm stuck. The rears will not go down low enough for me to pull the springs out. I've dropped the 2 subframe bolt btw. Do I need to unbolt the shock too?

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

ok thanks I just did that.

Now LAST question I proMise. How many threads or inches do I need to achieve a 25 1/4" stance in the rears?

    Thanks all you guys!

    Re: Stasis Coilover adjustment

I called Stasis last night and they said to leave 4-5 max threads showing in the rears

Why is this? If thats the case now the highest I can go is 24 1/2" unless they sell me a kit/piece that makes it higher.

Their recommended height is 25.5 so now I need to buy an extra piece that wasnt mentioned when you buy the CO kit to make it ride to their recommended height?.......Stupid.

Any thoughts of leaving 4-5 threads showing or are they on crack and just raise it all the way?

Thanks again to all you guys
