    Clutch Options for 3.0

I'm in the market for a new one so...

I don't want something that is "on/off" because driving that in dense traffic would be a nightmare. As for performance, I don't have shit as I'm a 3.0 but am seriously considering S/C sometime so I'd like to buy a clutch that can handle the TQ capacity if I do end up going the S/C route. I'm sure with or without an S/C I'd be happy using the same clutch?

I was thinking Southbend OFE SS Stage 3? Should I get the flywheel resurfaced by them too? I live in Canada and I'm sure the turn around time would be much longer if I had to remove my stock DMFW, send it to SB, wait, then reinstall. That would cost me a fair amount of cash to keep the car at my mechanics. With that in mind, would you guys recommend buying a new OEM flywheel and just selling the used one so I don't have to deal with down time? Maybe a LWFW? What are the benefits of having one for my performance goals? Forget resurfacing and just clean up my DMFW and sticking it back in?

My mechanic also mentioned the B5 RS4 clutch, but I haven't heard too much about it for our B6's and my mechanic even said it isn't "stellar".

Also, what is the BEST way to test whether you clutch is slipping?

    Thanks

    Re: Clutch Options for 3.0

I've actually been using stock clutch with s/c for year and a half and no slipping yet. But I also don't really launch it. For daily driving, totally fine. I'm considering LWFW but only heavier than 13 lbs. since I don't want to deal with chatter. SB I believe is now offering a single mass steel 20 lb. flywheel for about 400. I'll also look into clutchmasters. The B5 RS4 clutch I think has a slightly bad rep but AFAIK only b/c Stg III B5 S4s cause a little too much torque for it. I probably wouldn't buy that setup unless I rode in a car to see what its like.

i've tried a few different set ups and i prefer the AWE LWFW/clutch combo set up from the B5/RS4. No chatter and very close to stock feel, add the Stasis cntr-diff-chng and you will be on cloud nine

How much for that setup? Better than OEM DMFW/SB OFE SS or these Spec clutches?

    Re: Clutch Options for 3.0

Southbend will be offering a Clutch/lwfw for the 3.0 soon. In case you guys didn't know this, the clutch kits for the A4 3.0 are the same for the A4 2.0t. Feel free to check it out on Clutch Masters site. The CM part number for both those cars start with 02-025 and then the part number for the type of disk/pp combo.

    Example
Clutch Masters FX400 (stage 4) with the 4 puck, both the 3.0 and 2.0t use 02-025-HDCB4L.
