looking at a s5, couple of questions...

So a friend at the dealer called me last night knowing i am looking for a new car. They got a gray s5 with red interior in on a trade. It has 3100 miles and every option. I think the original sticker was 59k. He wants 50 for it. Does anybody think this is a good deal?

2nd is pretty important. I have been planning a hertz/morel/audison system for my next vehicle. I was looking at the car and realized almost everything is controlled by the knob on the center console. Will i still be able to do a stereo on it or am i stuck with stock. It has the Bang & Olufsen. Thanks

50k is a good deal, especially for dealer versus private seller pricing.

To get around your stereo issue, you just have to keep the main dash headunit. You can then add your amps and whatever compeonent speakers set you choose and power them up.
I briefly considered upgrading the stereo, but decided against it. I was gonna go full Dynaudio powered with Mcintosh amplifiers....

    What are you considering doing??

i was going to get a suv(tbss) so i was going to go bigger. The s5 is way smaller so i would downsize.

Haha, I had McIntosh MX406+MCC404+MCC302 in my Mercedes with DLS components and MBQ subs. My verdict on the relatively inexpensive $850 B&O system is that I'm ABSOLUTELY AMAZED. It sounds comparable enough that I wouldn't bother with aftermarket audio in the S5 unless I planned on waking up the neighbors. It doesn't have the overall output of a multi-kilowatt system, but it definitely has plenty.

Once setup, the B&O imaging is damn near perfect; the front 3-ways are positioned great for imaging for both front passengers (although the DSP allows you to focus on just the driver, if you like). Only complaint from an overly scrutinizing point of view is that it can get a little bright at higher volume, and I really wish there were a parametric EQ, or at least a graphic one with more than 2 bands.

If it were easy to do so, I'd supplement with a beefier amp and add a 30-band EQ to have more control over the midrange, but it's hard to find the desire to mess with a perfectly integrated, perfectly clean installed stock system, so at this point I'm perfectly content with leaving it alone.

2008 or 2009? If a 2008, was it a demo (all U.S. demos had all options and were Meteor Gray/Magma Red IIRC)? If it was a demo, it should come with an extended warranty but it was likely beat-on pretty hard IMHO!

$50K is a great price for it especially if it is CPO. A new '09 is in the low $60's. I'd definitely go for it if I were you. Another way to look at is you are getting an S5 for the price of a fully loaded 2009 A4.

    Go for it,
Just make sure there arent any "hidden" problems. Due to the low price
