Got Towed Last night

i backed into a spot, my emergency brake was on.. i checked the car for damage.. didnt see any but i was wondering if there could be any damage that i couldnt see that i should check for.

the car was towed by MY APARTMENT complex and i have a meeting with them over other issuses and if something was wrong with my car i would want to bring it up then

Even though I think I remember reading in the manual that it is ok to tow a quattro car on two wheels if it is for a short distance and at a low rate of speed

Oh i'm not saying that it should... My TL-S was towed while I was on campus in my undergrad and they scraped the shit out of my front lip. I definitely feel the threadstarters pain

Some places ban backing in to a parking space. Not sure why towing would be the result though.

no it wasnt a space there were no more spots left because of construction,. i pay extra to park there so i came home late and parked on the side. yes it is a quattro. i was really concerned. but the more i think about it, they would probably have had to use a bed bcause of the sharp corners/ limited space.

if no damage then i guess dont worry about it...it shouldnt' be done....my bro who has an a6 got towed...they crapped the crap out of his front bumper....he called his lawer and they paid for his s6 front ;). But they did drag the like 30 ft before putting it on a ramp. Tire marks were pictured and used as evidence to the carelessness of the company. He also got towed from his apartment complex.

I had some rims damaged from the tow truck wrapping chains around my rims to secure them. You think it would be obvious not to wrap chains around rims that are painted glossy black. The body shop ended up taking responsibility for it since they didn't watch the tow truck rig it up prior to be shipped to the Audi dealership for mechanical work.

he was parked "legally" in his neighborhood, but apparently there's some crazy law in virginia stating that you can't park a car in the same public spot for more than 3 days or something weird like that. usually they don't tow for something minor like that, but apparently a neighbor complained, and it was a violation of his HOA terms.

I think you just summed up why you were towed.........as much as I sympathize with you on both the Quattro issue and coming home late to no spots, now you're spending way more time and effort to deal w/ the tow than you would've just parking on the street.

I'm a little sensitive to this issue, cuz my old apartment complex was riddled with cars parked in red zones and non-parking space all over the lot. I rotated every other week w/ my roommate to use our spot. On my off-weeks, my good-natured self always parked on the street, and I would just fume over these people who somehow feel entitled to do whatever they want. Not saying you're that type, just venting about a situation I am SOOOOO happy to be rid of with my new place.

I had a bad experience once, when I was a noob (still am but even worse). some douche of a tow truck driver tow'd my Quattro car for about 2 miles with A, hand brake up B, QUATTRO all youcould see the whole way there was fucking tire marks and smoke...and he gets out "I didnt notice it" While I was honking like crazy.

needless to say, I got new brakes, tires and free AAA membership =D

Just wondering, if someone has the handbrake on, how can it get towed? I mean I'm sure a tow truck is still capable, but wouldn't it damage the car?

no the brakes will just be worn down really bad. if it is a quattro and towed on a standard towtruck it might damage more

I had my 07 STI towed for a "short distance" cause their dolly got a flat tire and it resulted in me threatening to sue because I was hearing grinding noises from the differentials and subaru said it was a $3,000.00 fix. I would get it checked or be weary at least. I noticed quickly because it was making noises.

My neighbor is a tow truck driver as well as another good friend of mine. Trust me, they're VERY aware of which cars can be towed on a pull-behind and which ones much be on a rollback (flatbed). I'm not sure how your towing laws are, but here the driver is liable for any damage done to a car while towing. So needless to say, the drivers are extremely careful.

actually, from what i've seen (in person) that's rarely the case. i've seen truck drivers pull cars out from parallel parking spots with cars in front and behind them. believe me, tires don't like to move in the direction perpendicular to the wheel direction. i've seen drivers yank and drag cars with the handbrakes still engaged. around here, and most major cities, you are fully liable for all damages. they pull cars that are illegally parked for a reason.

Well that's just unfair. I thought the 'punishment' for illegal parking is a fine not a fine+car damage.
