So today on the way to school a new m3 is on my ass and wants to play, im in 5th gear around 75mph and get on it of a sudden my revs go way up and the s doesnt really move. At that point I let off tried it again same problem I knew my clutch was bad but it seems it got alot worst. Does anybody know somewhere where I could get a clutch for cheap because im broke right now, im going stage 3 soon so something that could hold up is needed.

Since your going Stage 3 Soon. I think you should go ahead and get a clutch that will be able to hold the Stage 3 power. As for Using the Current Flywheel without Resurfacing it is not Recommended but u can use it. But there is a Chance that it will cause you to slip with the new clutch. Just order a Resurfaced flywheel from Vast Performance or JHM (Carries Vast Resufaced Flywheels)

    Wow

No you shouldn't do that. Your flywheel is a Dual mass unit, you can't just scuff it like a mustang or something. The ring around the outside? That needs to be machined exactly as much as the center. Ask anyone from one of the shops we all deal with, in fact ask a shop that does not sell flywheels if you feel they're lying.

I had someone scuff my flywheel and it looked fine on install, 6 thousand miles later it ate my brand new stage 3 CM clutch. I know for a FACT this is what caused it because all the wear was on the FW side of the friction disk. I sent it back to CM and asked them what they thought and they said the same thing.

    As for your question NY:
You are going to slip the most in 5th or 6th because thats where your clutch has the most strain on it. Stop doing that.

Forget the lightweight flywheels, your broke! why the hell would you want that? I received my stock resurfaced FW from VAST, they are very helpful. I have driven both the southbend feramic and the CM kevlar (mine) and my next clutch will be the SB. www.ultrarev.com has good deals on CM stuff, way below list and they are out of NY

If vast is out of stock or youre set on a LWFW, I think 034 just had a great deal on some on here, 350 shipped I think? thats great and maybe vast will buy your core or trade for parts, who knows?

Unplug your n75 if your stage 2 (limits you to wastegate psi i think) and just drive easy for a while until you have the money for the legit stuff.

When you change the clutch, change the slave, I got mine for 70 bucks, one bolt and a good bleed and you're in the money. Save the old one if it's working for a spare.

edit* to add to this my flywheel wasnt too badly glazed in the first place. so i guess it all depends

sounds just like a lot of assumptions so far, maybe on my part too.

I assume if you're wrong, you'll be paying for this kids new clutch and flywheel?

    Re: clutch slipping

I wouldnt get an Rs4 clutch if I was you. Mine started to slip after like 20k miles with stage 3. There have been a lot of people that have complained about that. I would go VAST stage 3 ceramic and be done with it, its amazing. Mine has like 5k on it and it is super easy to DD and yet clamps like a banshee. I say if you are gonna do it, do it right. But thats just me, take it or leave it.

    Re: clutch slipping

heard only good things about vast stage 3 clutch. And for your FW, just have it resurfaced at a good shop when you take the tranny out. Cheapest route you can go.

Thanks Scotty that was very helpful, it looks like i will be going with a stage 2 southbend if I could scrap up some more money I go with a stage 3 SB. Also someone told me southbend resurfaces my stock flywheel for free I just have to pay for shipping, and I prob. will change out the slave cylinder because I think I still have the orgrinal in my car with 135k.

    Re: clutch slipping

One more question I know i shouldnt be driving the car like that and if I do to take it easy, but is there a chance that the clutch will just give up on me anytime I dont want to risk gettin stuck somewhere? I need my car for school, and work. Also I realized that when taking off in first gear now I get a small vibration from the car like a bucking feeling like it wants to stall and after the clutch engages it goes away. Does it mostly when going up a hill

    Re: clutch slipping

your clutch will wear down to nothing and you will be able to go like 10 mph tops if you keep driving it. If you keep slipping it after that then your car won't move. I'd say it's best to just change it ASAP or park the car. When mine blew I drove it soo long the flywheel was ruined and couldn't be remachined.
