Stolen S4....PLEASE READ!

Hi guys...as the title of my post reads, my beloved 2001.5 S4 was stolen last night sometime between 11pm and 545am from my place in Lyndhurst. I have only just moved into the area within the past few weeks. I waited a month to see how the area was before I brought it up and bought the GIAC flashloader with the "kill" mode for good measure. Apparently this wasn't enough to deter the NJ car thieves. Anyway, here's the info on the car that would maybe help to identify it along with some pictures. If you guys could keep an eye out I'd really appreciate it but the car is probably in Newark or Irvington by now unfortunately.

2001.5 Nogaro Blue S4
Plate: VHW 93T (NJ)
Distinguishing Marks: RS4 bumper, 18" Flik Justice wheels in silver

Keep on the police. It'll most likely show up in a few days. Most of the vehicles stolen in that area are stolen for joy-riding purposes. My friend's S4 was stolen twice from that area and both times it was recovered within a week.

Well guys...I really lucked out.

Lyndhurst PD just called me a little while ago, the car was found about a block or two from my place. Lady who lives near where it was recovered noticed it was parked oddly and called the police.

Thanks for all of the help and the good luck wishes. I really appreciate it. I guess I will be spending the rest of the day researching more insurance upgrades and searching for a more secure parking spot for it.

If you guys could suggest any security upgrades besides the GIAC kill mode that they have used and have been proven effective I'd appreciate it. Like I said in one of my other posts, being up in an environment like this where theft is so common is new to me so any pointers (aside from getting something that isn't a B5 S4) would really be appreciated.

I haven't gotten to see the car yet. Lyndhurst PD is taking it to check for prints and stuff. I didn't have to let them do it but I figure it is a good thing to do cause chances are these guys will strike again on another person's car in the future and I want them to really pay.

From what was explained to me the car isn't in all that bad of shape. The lock cylinder in the door and the ignition cylinder were both busted out. Then there was some damage on the rear bumper. I will post up some pics when I go to release it and sent to a shop.

Does anybody know how it works with my insurance as far as having the car mechanically inspected? I want to make sure there is no damage aside from what is visible to the eye. I have no idea how these guys took the car or how the cops have been transporting it.

1st off glad to hear the car is back! hopefully damage isnt that bad. I doubt the police would flat bed it. Im pretty sure with quattro its bad to tow with a regular tow truck so you might wanna check on that. Thats all the info i can think of. GOOD LUCK!

Be Careful! My Friends R32 Was Stolen And When The Cops Recovered It They Kept The Car For About 4 Days. Then The Police Precint Charge Him For Parking And Holding Fees When All He Wanted Was To Get His Damn Car Back The Same Or Day After It Was Recovered.

my old rsx-s got stolen out of Garden state plaza in the middle of the day in june..never found it...

Alright guys...I finally got to see the car and inspect it somewhat today...

Here is what I saw...







Other than that everything seems alright. The headlights are there and intact, nothing seems to be taken from the engine bay, and the only thing stolen damaged on the interior was my old sunglasses. They left my V1, RNS-E, etc. unharmed. I am in shock! I don't know if something happened and these guys got scared and ran or what but I definitely expected things to be cleaned out a lot more. I'm also glad I didn't pay the $21 fee for a lost/stolen EZ pass hahaha

They seriously just left the $450 V1?! Wow you think if someone is bold enough to steal the car that they would probably take the easiest things to grab in the car. Bet the V1 was worth double what the sun glasses were.

I think they were pushing it with another car from the looks of it. I have a concrete barrier behind me in my spot but the car would never hit it because of the normal 6" high parking things that are at the end of most spots. They would have had no reason to push it in that direction either since the car was backed into the spot.

I don't see how they started it unless they had a GIAC flashloader and switched the program.

It looks like they broke into the car, and then pushed it in an attempt to bring it somewhere near by to strip it? They probably got spooked and ditched the car before they got to get their hands on it.

I'd check the program on it and see if it is still in kill mode - if it isn't then whoever stole it knows you.
