Not a fan of dark wheels on a car with metallic paint. I would go silver. I also would never put springs on a car...do coilovers or nothing.

Blah blah blah coilovers... Not everyone tracks their car or needs to raise and lower their suspension. If you just want to close the wheel gap go for the springs and save the money for something useful like new shocks and sway bars to go with the springs.

Coilovers or springs AND shocks are proper suspension upgrades. Springs only make the car look lower and will not only wear out the stock shocks quickly but also degrade ride quality. They may provide better handling when taking corners because the center of gravity is lower but the ride quality over uneven pavement with springs only is crap because the spring rates don't match the valving of the shocks. You don't have to track to appreciate a proper handling car and it makes no sense to cheap-out on a $30k car.

I don't think the 19" fit the fender flare very well. RS4 wheels are 19" but have MASSIVE fender flares compared to ours.

I never suggested that anyone do just springs without new shocks. I presumed that anyone with a basic amount of common sense would get a set of Koni yellows to go with their springs. My argument is against dropping upwards of $1200.00 on a coilover setup when you are just driving a car on the street. I bought all of my suspension, new shock, new sways and the springs for less than $1200.00. That was my point.

The OP said he was considering H&R springs or coilovers. He never said anything about springs and shocks. I don't presume anything...there are plenty of people on this forum who only buy springs and I responded to a specific comment about the OPs plans to possibly buy springs only.

Also, your post was not very clear. You said "buy springs only and save money for something useful like shocks...", it can be taken two ways because you never specified that shock replacement was a must.

Based on what you said above, you seem to "have a basic amount of common sense" about suspension setups, so good for you, not everybody does here.

And FWIW, a good, basic set of coilovers can be had for around the same money as springs and shocks. I've seen my Vogtland coils on sale for ~$1,100.

I'm not knocking coilovers by any means. I had them in a Miata that I tracked, and they were awesome. I just drive my current cars on the street. That's all. I don't need adjustable suspension, so I didn't buy it, but hey, it's just money, and if it makes someone happy to have the most flexible setup then go for it. I'm happy with the drop I got out of my setup, and my cars drive really nicely as they're configured.

those wheels dont look right in 18, must go 19, onyx black is actually chrome and chips easily, do not get that color... i am thinking gun metal but id have to see both on the car.

I just put 18 inch vmr reps in gunmetal on my Moro blue 06 s4 with stock suspension. Looks good but I still need coilovers.

You can get H&R's for around 1200, and they aren't bad at all.

yes, you can get HR or Vogtlands for about 1100-1200. great price for very good CO setups..ive had both and I prefer the Vogtlands, they ride very smooth.

I have 19s on my stock B6 S4 and I think they look great. There's some wheel gap but it's "appropriate" gap. I didn't want my car to look slammed.

If you go 18s, I think you'll want to lower it.

I searched and looked at pics of 19's on stock suspension and they look high. the 18's are probably the same in gap but is less pronounced.
