Re: H & R coil over ride quality

My car is slammed, I put them on the same time as the super stiff sway bars so can't really decouple between the two. It's definitely firmer and you can feel more of the little bumps. Again I can't say if thats because I'm slammed or what, but I love it! Car handles great..

Haven't had other coilovers either... Based on my reading get the best ones you can afford. For the under 1500 price range these were my pick..

mr burrito: have you had any tire wear issues with your super low ride height?

Nope not yet... The car is just a little bit out of alignment. I wonder if the the previous owner had it lowered as the front tires that were on the car when I bought it wore out on the inside sidewall after 5k miles (I actually had a flat and it ripped all the way around while the rest of the tire looked great)...

Thanks for bringing it up, I'll give it a thorough inspection.

Re: H & R coil over ride quality

I have the H&R's on my car as well.. The rears are all the way down and the fronts have about an inch left to go.. The car is firmer than stock but its not bad. You will feel more bumps but its all worth it when you get out of the car and look back at it.

Love my suspension. I am also slammed. As stated above i do feel alot more bumps, but the handling is great.

Re: H & R coil over ride quality

I had H&R coils on my B5. Nice value but I did NOT notice a marked improvement in handling. The ride was firmer but not jarring. I installed Vogtlands on my B6 and the improvement in ride quality was far more noticeable. The floating sensation of the stock suspension was gone and the ride was much tighter. Huge improvement. The fact that that Vogts are about $150 cheaper than the H&Rs doesn't hurt, either. Either one will put a smile on your face, though, because the car looks SO much better with a drop.

Re: H & R coil over ride quality

I had H&R COs on my B5 and had the opposite experience as tadhgbrosnan: I noticed a huge difference in handling and ride quality. At times, the quality can be a bit harsh but not too much so; it's just sporty. The handling is insane. I'm selling it, since I have a B7 S4 and am going to buy new coilovers soon.

My only complaint with H&R is that warranty repairs take forever, since they're located in Bellingham, WA and I sent mine in for a LOT of warranty repairs (4 in the past 6 years...which is unacceptable in my book). Planning on Stasis this time around.

def good coilovers a bit stiff but otherwise worth the money, another coilover i would recommend is FK, those are your best bang for the buck
