AZ snowboard/ski trip

Whats up guys, I got an email today from snowshoe letting me know they are opening this Friday and recent storm had just dumped 30+ inches and is expected to continue dropping snow until Friday. Anyways it got me thinking that maybe sometime over the next 2 months (peak season) we could get a place at a local ski resort for a weekend or a couple days. I don't know how many of us are into snowboarding/skiing, but I thought it would be a fun little trip. I'm going up to Snowshoe from the 26th to the 31st in december with a bunch of my best friends. We went last year for a weekend and had a great time. Little bit of beer pong and some night skiing made it much more fun, but just a good old ski trip is always fun. If we did end up getting something together I dont know if you guys would prefer somewhere else besides snowshoe. Maybe 7 springs or somewhere else, but those are my favorite/best IMO resorts in our "area". I guess we can see how much interest there is and go from there. Just a little idea.. Take it easy -Adam

I worked as a ski instructer last year and I am picking up some new planks this year. Im other words I am all over this. Early december or anytime in january would be best for me if we are going to have to take anytime off work. If its just a friday through sunday thing I am down anytime just let me know when, where, and how much. Might have to bring the lady though.

We go to wisp for a weekend every year. You can rent a huge house for pretty cheap. Mountain is OK, nothing special though. Last year is would take about 3 hours for me to ski the whole mountain with no lines.

i need to remain close to northern VA, just in case, so preferrably a mountain near here, white tail, round top, liberty etc.

i used to manage one of the local board shops and during that time got free tickets to most places and based on my experience, the best places with the best snow semi-nearby are snowshoe, wv, wisp, md or seven springs, pa. snowshoe is the best spot within 6 hours of dc hands down. i will be in snowshoe from the 31st through the 3rd with some other friends. theres some great places to stay up there. i was thinking of trying to get some people together for a trip over inauguration/mlk weekend in january and presidents day weekend in february but im down other times too. i even have some equipment im trying to get rid of if anyone wants to get into snowboarding for cheap.

I'm heading to 7springs this Friday...then Snowshoe the following 2 weekends. The only thing I hate about going to Snowshoe is the 5 hour drive.

I'm definitely down for this. I'm getting a place at Snowshoe with a bunch of my friends the weekend of Jan. 9th so that weekend is out. I'd prefer to just go for the weekend with you guys because I'm trying to save some vacation time for a trip to Tahoe or Colorado this winter. My first choice would be Seven Springs. I haven't been there in a few years but I heard they have really improved their parks and it is relatively close (about 3 1/2 hours). I'd also be down for some day trips with whoever wants to go (Liberty, White Tail, Massanutten). I'm planning to go a bunch this year with a buddy of mine who just moved back from Steamboat.

Nice I'll look for you. We should be staying on the Western Territory side in the little neighborhood with all the houses. Hopefully it will snow like it did last year when I went. Drifting the roads from Cass up the mountain is waaaay too much fun.

Yeah, the shop used to be real sick... Too bad they closed down. Ha, I definitely stole this name from them because I love to wakeboard/snowboard. I used to work at Asylum in Fairfax, but they closed down all of their shops too...

BTW I'm going up to Ski Roundtop on Sunday to shred. I would normally go to Liberty but Roundtop has been open almost a week longer and should have more terrain open. I just picked up the "advantage card" for Liberty, Whitetail, and Roundtop. It's $119 and you get 40% off your lift tickets everytime you go at all three resorts. So that's a good deal if anyone is trying to go a lot this year. I'm definitely going to try and get up there as much as possible, so I'm sure there were be plenty of opportunities for us to all meet up there. Although I still think we need to organize a weekend trip. I'll help organize but we would have to use someone elses credit card since I just put a 2 grand charge on mine for a 6 bedroom house at snowshoe in January...

Grishbok, is 3-3 1/2 hours away too far for you? If not, we should try to organize a trip to Seven Springs. If you can manage 4-4 1/2 hours, I'd rather go to snowshoe. I think they have better trails and the drive out there is more quattro friendly (although there are a lot of guard rails). Sorry, low blow...

I might head up to roundtop too on sunday. I was planning on going to Whitetail, but they are just opening this weekend and dont even have any word on their website about which trails they are going to open. Have you been to Roundtop before? How'd you like it?
