    Squeaky Passenger Seat

Though I am new here and this is my 1st post, I would greatly appreciate some help. A friend of mine has a 2002 A4, 1.8T if i'm not mistaken (I don't know much else) and the passenger seat squeaks when someone is in it. We were considering taking a trip to Philadelphia, but the sound of that seat squeaking the whole way down would drive anyone mad.

My question is, does anyone know of a fix/DIY or have any ideas as to what we can do to stop this? Has anyone had this problem or is it a common problem? How hard is it to remove the passenger seat?

I have searched Google and this site to no avail. I know i'm new, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Squeaky Passenger Seat

Could be from many things. Try to find out which side is it squeaking from, left or right. My squeak was because the seat belt connector was rubbing between the seat and the rear part of the console. So I covered that seat belt connector with a foam sheet and taped around it with black duck tape. Problem solved.

The second thing I would think of is that the back side of the seat is squeaking slightly when it moves back and forth when you sit on it. That you would use something like Jig-A-Loo or WD40 and spray all the hinges (including the rail track) of the seat.

Just try to move the seat when the car is stopped, sit on it, move around, tap slightly all over the seat till you find the source of the noise.

    Re: Squeaky Passenger Seat

Thank you sir for your input. Its from the right side (if your sitting in it) possibly coming from where the seat meets the back, possibly even from where the seat controls are (lumbar etc). Ill pin point it further. If disassembly is required, do you know if its hard or practicle to do so? Are there any tutorials that you know of? Once again any help would be appreciated.

    Re: Squeaky Passenger Seat

^^ I would not dissemble anything, probably no need to just yet. Just lubricate the hinges/connectors of the seat for starters. It could be the seat controls, but I would doubt it, except for the seat adjuster, you never know. Let someone else drive around and try to pin point it by pressing with some pressure on where you think its coming from. There is that box under the seat, that could be it, never heard it making noise though.
