RS4 Airbox alternative

Any of you stage 3 people using something other than an RS4 airbox?

I found this online, curious if there's any other alternatives when using a larger MAF.

that will just make more noise and lessen the intercoolers efficiency. unless you made your own heat shield and utilized the stock air intake area.

I hear you can use your stock airbox with an 87mm coupler. I figure if you're going to spend $400 on an RS4 airbox, you might as well spend the little extra and go with SDR X-1 intake

Yea, I was thinking of just taking a 3.5" hole saw to the opening of the stock airbox, don't know if thats an option or not

That doesn't look bad but the lack of heat shield is a little disappointing.

Are you attaching the filter right to the MAF housing or do you have any piping between?

LOL, funny you ask that. Right now it is attached right to my 85MM MAF. The car wasnt running perfect and i talked to Greg at SSP about it, he said that it is possible that the MAF is getting turbulence. I ordered Aluminum pipes to push the filter farther away. I am doing that tonight, i will let you know how it helps
