Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

it was against my frame rail, I guess they just said, "fuck it, that's close enough"

the fitment was always hokey looking to me but I didn't know it would do that...

Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

I have the same problem with my IC pipe though its not from ER and it didn't go through. I slipped a silicone coupling right over where it was rubbing against the frame rail so it wouldn't cut through and its been good since.

Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

^^I'd keep an eye on it, if its pushing hard enough it'll go right through that silicone.

I cut that part of the frame rail tonight, it was nothing vital, just the pinch weld that was on the piece that goes from the frame rail to the passenger fender right in front of the wheel well.

Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

i had that issue with my diverter valve. I groove a line right through billet aluminum. I just ground down that pinch weld and welded in a flat.

I've had customer's do that w/ A/C lines too. They never thought a cheap intake would cost soo much in the long run.

Anodize isn't much more than a dye. It protects the aluminum from oxidation and gives it a bit more surface hardness but it is like an eggshell - hard on the outside but as soft as ever inside.

Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

plus, a lot of mandrel bent aluminum is annealed so that it bends well, and then never heat treated back to T651 or whatever it was before. Usually T6. Anyways, this makes it extra soft and flimsy.

I still run it though, steel is just so damn heavy.

Re: I though anodized metal didnt scratch?

Was that the standard ER hot side pipe or the one they make for the Full-race setup?

The standard pipe is designed for a Elim with the outlet facing downward and the other version is for a top mount turbo that has the outlet facing toward the fender.
