    Sport Suspension Quality?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
From your experience, how well does the Sport Pack match up to the reputable suspension options available on the market? Same goes for the Sport Sways.

I took my A4 Quattro to the N. Ga mountains this past weekend, and I was VERY impressed with the handling of the car. I was able to keep up in the twisties with a modded STi (decimated on the straights).

I guess my main question is, should I feel the need to purchase (i.e) Stasis coils/sways for mountain runs and HPDEs? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    ~Tereance

    Re: Sport Suspension Quality?

I had non-sport and then put the OEM sport pack on my 2002 (it was '02 sport suspension). It was perfect for me; great stance, great ride, etc. Handled very well. You shouldn't feel the need to purchase coils for spirited driving or HPDE's. The '02 sport suspension is perfectly capable. I'm sure 15 people will tell me I'm wrong, but that's my $0.02 :-)

    Re: Sport Suspension Quality?

I was perfectly happy with the handling of stock sport suspension and sway on my USP. I too thought it handled great and better than most stock cars. But it sat too high so I bought coilovers. Let me tell you it's a night and day difference. I have Stasis. Ride is a little stiffer, but the handling is much improved. Body role is gone, and the car can take corners at high speeds effortlessly.

So you don't need them, but they are a big difference.

    Re: Sport Suspension Quality?

Sport suspension does well. I take it you currently have the non-Sport package? The Sport package not only includes upgraded struts/springs and sway bars, but also a shock tower brace (found behind the engine and in front of the battery).

If you're going from a non-Sport setup, I would recommend looking at either OEM RS4 sway bars or the H-Sport S4 or RS4 sway bars. For suspension, OEM Sport works. Other options abound. Plenty of threads here for you to search.

    Re: Sport Suspension Quality?

When I first got my car, I took it for a canyon run after the break in period.

I kept up with my friend's C5 corvette No problem. Obviously, he took me on the straights, but in the corners, I was right on his tail.

The stock sport suspension is very well balanced and tuned to the Stock A4. I love it. But hey you know me. The reason why we're all here right? We can't leave the car well enough alone. Hence all the modding.

    Happy modding

    Re: Sport Suspension Quality?

Thanks for all the input. My A4 has the sport pack. I am looking to mildy mod the car, and figured that I needed to prioritize my funds. Seeing as how I kept up with my friends STi, I think the first thing to address on this car is the brakes, tires, and moderate power. The car will only see the mountains and HPDE, maybe Auto-x.

My WRX was around 250awhp/260awtq; not super fast, but very quick.

Stay tuned for a HPS pads, stickey rubber, and REVO!
