Smile Cold Air Intakes- Fact Or Myth

As a new member I own a 2005.5 A4 3.2 Quattro. As a NA engine, I know that there is little that can be done, short of a supercharger to increase power. The problem in California, is the smog rulings. Here's the question: "Is a cold air intake a waste of money?" Seems like a lot of money for claims that can't be substantiated. If there is anyone out there who can help me out, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Dutch

I don't know about the 3.2, but when I put a K&N CAI in my Yukon with the 8.1 engine I could feel the difference and hear it. the tires squeals longer and the throttle response improved. The intake was like music to the ears sounded really sporty.

on my old b5 a4, I had a cold air intake...was the first one to run that on my v6...I did feel an increase, but that was only the butt dyno.

i'm not sure enough testing has been done with the 3.2... you should go for it... if you can get the tuner to do a dyno comparison for you to help sales . I'm not sure if the GSG pipe fits or know what restrictions there may be with the 3.2... but look at the intake and see what you can do to help airflow... overall a CAI may not do enough to justify what you pay for it unless you do other stuff along with it.

edit: sorry forgot the topic was CAI... I think you might have some gains considering our cars in general are known to get hot air in..

A cold air intake will improve a NA engine greatly, when it's cold outside.
