Re: Let's See Your Single-Din Aftermarket Install....

    here's mine...

For some reason, my head unit was mounted kind of deep in the dash, like it's kind of behind that instrument panel. So since it fits all weird, there's a huge ugly gap around it. I want to clean it up by installing some kind of bracket or mounting plate to make it fit correctly and get rid of the gap. Do any of you guys know how i should go about this? Is there a kit i can get?

I changed mine up a bit. I removed the ash tray and I will be putting two gauges down there and an OE style 12V power outlet. At least I'm pretty sure they'll fit.
I wanted to put the HVAC unit down there, but I got ahead of myself on the trimming and it didn't work out like planned. Either way, here's how it looks as of Saturday.

Note: Head unit is a Sony GT500 (>2yrs old) and matches the gauges and OEM lighting about 98%. The only reason why I have kept it for so long.

Has anyone ever built a 'cover' of any sorts for the centre console? I HATE, the surround around an upgraded H/U. Have it myself.. hate hate hate.

Looks like an easy to make something for.....

Here's mine... extremely happy with the radio... not so much with the look of the dash kit.

    Night... looks great!

    Dusk... Still looks good.

Day... Dash kit kills it :(

Re: Let's See Your Single-Din Aftermarket Install....

i kept the stock head unit and just wired up a 4 channel 1200 watt amp for the speakers and changed all those out and then added a 2000 watt mono channel amp for the subs and then i spliced the wires from the head unit and then got an adapter so i could convert them to rca and then wired them to the amps so it all worked out just a lot of wiring but i get to keep the stock look with 6 cd changer. i would have gone aftermarket head unit like alpine but the damn stock head unit is really long so all the after market ones look stupid. here are 2 pics.

I have no idea where I found it, but I found somebody that took the trim bezel around the face plate and molded it into the OEM trim piece. It takes a bit of effort and some trimming of the OEM piece, but it looked good afterwards.

Here's some non-B5 motivation to show you some of the cool things you CAN do.
