My N75 valve is going bad and also ALL four ignition coils are misfiring. EXPENSIVE! I'm pretty new to Audi and cars in general. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on these things I already got a diagnostic but im not payin 1200 for these things to get fixed at eh dealer. So i'm thinkin about doing it myself. Anybody got some advice or suggestions. maybe a DIY?

My names Chris I got a Denim Blue 02 a4 55k miles. HOPFULLY SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT!

Re: N 75 valve going bad, misfiring ingnition coils...

The N75 isn't hard to replace, just a pain in the ass. Getting rid of all the one time use OEM clamps sucks a fat one, but other than that it's really just unplugging the attached wiring harness and several vacuum lines. might take you a while if you haven't been in there before. oh and the passenger side headlight will need to be taken off as well, but that's the easiest part!

what symptoms of a bad N75 are you having? just buy 4 new ignition coils for under $130 online and replace them yourself...literally takes ten mins. and can even be done while stuck on the side of the road. the N75 is around $90 at mjmautohaus.com, as well as the coil packs. do a search in the forums for a DIY install.

Re: N 75 valve going bad, misfiring ingnition coils...

I went to the dealer and got a diagnostic. That the ONLY reason I know whats wrong haha.
Im getting some loss of power, rpm's and boost gauge go up and down a little if i go past 2800 rpms even if im not flooring it. Its retarded. still drivable, but annoying. in your opinion do you think i should upgrade the N75 or would it be a waste of time? I am planning on moding my car more soon...& thanks for replying I didint think i was gunna get one for a while.

    What does the code say?

if it's "random misfires" in all 4 cylinders,
    chances are it's your MAF.

there no way any of that would cost $1200.

Do oyu have the actual codes they read?

If all 4 cylinders were misfiring, chances the car would run like absolute crap or not run at all. Like A4 Moda said it could be a MAF problem or even a boost/vacuum leak.

Ppl always say to unplug the MAF and see if that makes it better. If it does, then it's your MAF.

There is someone in the classifieds selling a MAF for 40 shipped.

Upgrade your diverter valve! (n75 valve) There is a group buy going on for forge 007 diverter valves right now, get one of those instead because a new oem n75 will just tear the internal diaphragm again, especially when you start doing mods!

MAF is your mass air flow sensor, its plugged right into the airbox.

could be something as simple as your spark plugs.... and they are a hell of a lot cheaper than all of those other parts.

Re: N 75 valve going bad, misfiring ingnition coils...

I was told NOT to upgrade the N75 cause its pointless. Also ill try unplugging the MAF tomorrow; but why does it show an ignition coils misfireing code if its the MAF? j/w.hopefully I unplug the right one. If it was spark plugs wouldnt the car not start right? or am i just a nub lol.

I told the dealership to check for vaccum leaks but I dont think they did. I hear this big whistling noise that didnt used to be there..its def. not the turbo spoolin, but its basically only when the turbo spools so i think its a leak too..anyone know Johnathon Massey? thats who I bought the car from lives in florida. he gave me and f'd up car..I wanna get this crap fixed so I can start modding...
