to the point. got on it a bit yesterday. heard a kinda pop noise, kinda like a hose popping of. now, i cant build boost. i will get out of vaccum fine, but when i hit -0- on my gauge, theres nada, and some whooshing coming from somewhere up front, along with some smoke out the tail.

my turbos sound fine i believe, they get me out of vaccum quick and with no odd sounds, but when i get to zero is where the issue is, and thats when i start to get smoke. no police siren. no horrible sounds. thats it. bottom IC hoses are intact. a buddy of mine and i are gunna check all the lines and hoses when he gets a free minute. im horrible at doin my own car stuff,,,

pressure test your car. I am going to guess it is a bad hose.

will do. i know i may be gettin ahead of myself without even having pressure tested or checked all my lines/hoses.... but it does have 12x,xxx miles on it......

I am pretty sure it's just a popped intercooler hose. My guess is that you have a small tear, or that the hose is still loosely/somewhat attached, so it only leaks boost when you're not in vacuum.

You will get black smoke all the time if it's a blown turbo, not just when you're on boost.

got a pressure tester on the way.... is that what u mean by "check your hoses" or is it a visual check you are talking about. everything at the top looks good, TBB, the Y hose things, and the intercooler hoses that u can see right under the car look good. i dont have to take my front end off to check other stuff do i?

you have an '00 or a '01? check f-hose along with all other hoses. mainly check TBB,but it usually rips underneath so youll hafta look carefully.

Got a 01.5. TBB checks out, I got the samco awhile back when I got chipped. Waitin on pressure tester, but from a visual that my friend and I did, all looks well. So what can we NOT easily see, that it might be(aside from blown turbo)

I'm losing a helluva lot of oil it appears. Rev'd it up hard last night to see if I hear anything without driving it. On a hunch, a looked under the cAr after. Nice condensation under side the car, and a small ammount on the ground (half dollar size-ammount)

i hate to say, but when my turbos blew they went just like this. a decent POP and then smoke up the assssssssssss. I was under full boost, a hose fell off the motor, sucked something into the turbo and ticked it. I didnt know this at the time so i put the hose back on i think its all good, start it up and it sounded like a midget was in my engine with a hammer then all of a sudden it got smooth, thats when that piece i guess finally made its way out.

if there is a lot of oil, it is definitely signs of your turbo.

Crazy son.... hoses might just popped out. Hopefully it didn't get to the turbos... Good luck you to fellow AZ member.

He hasn't necessarily sucked anything into his turbos yet, though.

Wow...so just a POP and they're gone, huh?

EDIT: I'm presuming it was just one turbo that blew, when you get it back maybe let us know the diagnosis and/or cause of failure if anything specific (oil starvation/seals/debris/overboost etc)!

i did decide to go stage 3- cause i wasnt gunna put ko3s back in. just so happens that someone had there car at wicked, and is going stage 3+++(not sure to what extent) and was selling his full AWE fueling. so i picked up a 2000 mile/few month old stage 3 fueling, with newest file for $1k. so i went full stage 3 and should be picking it up around 10am on saturday!
