    Wheel Bearings

Took my A4Q to get Snow shoes (Tires for all you squares) and the Tire Doctor told me my left side had a lot of play in the wheel. His Diagnose told me that I had bad wheel Bearings. I been looking at my normal favorite online Car part shop (ECS Tuning) and I see the bearings at different prices.

Have anyone replace theirs lately ? and if so How much you paid and where did you get them?

about $60 shipped from germanautoparts.com. Alot of people on here do the same as it is a pretty common issue.

here is the link. I got the one that comes with the bolt because it was basically melted into the hub. If you're doing it yourself you'll need the last one that comes with the hex bit.

    Re: Wheel Bearings

Well for me, they had my car in the air and after change the tires I guess they shook the wheel and it had to much play in it. ..

It was my P/S front wheel.

Thanks fellas for the assistance but I might as well keep dealing with ECS tuning. The have it for about the same price but good looking out. Quick question .. Do you suggest i get the whole wheel bearing kit?

how much is it to get a wheel baring replaced (average price)? not at the dealership. And my back tire is loud when i drive over 30 mph and gets louder the faster i go...for awhile i thought it was my wheel that i bent a lil bit but now think it is my bearings...

    thanks.

Its probably your right since thats the wheel you take weight off of when you turn right, but jack the car up and try to wiggle the wheel to see if it has any give

my bet is that its your bearing. expect to pay for about 2 hours at the average mechanic if you're not doing it yourself. the bearing kit costs about $60 shipped plus prob around 150-200 for labor if you take it in.

    Re: Wheel Bearings

    thanks pologk04...appreciate it.

yea im thinking it is the wheel bearing...i just took my car out for a lil cruise and it drove straight, without any pulling to either side, and no vibrations...how dangerious is it to drive my car right now?? i know if you let the bearings go to far it can be very damaging to your car...but all i have to go by right now is the "humming" sound at higher speeds.

    thanks again!

    Re: Wheel Bearings

you should probably do it sooner than later. If it just started you'll prob be ok for a little while, but if you let it go too long it could harm your abs sensor. You're going to have to get it fixed so might as well get it done now. It shouldn't cost you much more than $200.

    Re: Wheel Bearings

    sounds good.
im taking my car in to get an oil change this week so hopefully i will get it checked out, pick up the parts if i can find them and get it done before this weekend. otherwise it will get done early next week.

only reason i asked was i gotta drive 250 miles this weekend and just curious if i should be worried about it.

    thanks again!!!!

Yes they are. if the German Po Po stop you and check it , you ge a ticket also if you have accident and they see you dont have snow tires it could affect your settlement even if your not at fault.
