    Winter Tire Question**

ok so i currently have 17 sports. I wana put on steelies, due to the function of the steel wheel. Canadian winters sometimes arn't too pleasant. I found a set locally, but the size is 205/55/16 which includes 16" steelie. They came off of a 98 (B5)A4. So i am guessing a 5x112. The seller doesn't know too much about them. From what I gather the bolt pattern should be the same. The thing im not too sure about is the tire dimensions. I am lowered, and dont want to lose sidewall.

    Any advice.?

    Thanks,

    Adam

    Re: Winter Tire Question**

The rims will fit, yes they are 5x112. The tire is slightly smaller, as the B5 used 225/45-17 while B6 used 235/45-17. It should be 4.5mm in sidewall height less. It's not the end of the world, but it is not the true correct size, either.

I run 225/45 R17's on my winter tires, 235's on my summer ones.

OP, more sidewall in winter tires is optimal along with slightly thinner tires. 225 vs. 235, in my case.
