Installed my new grill and upon closing the hood I realized I didn't line up the hood release with the new grill.

What are my options. I feel like such a newb right now

    typo. Hood release.

It was only a $30 ebay grill so if I can't get it to line up properly I may just trim enough for it to pop out. Such a horrible design on the hood release...

you can get it. i did the same thing. its a pain but you'll have to pry it through the hole with a flat head screwdriver. BE CAREFUL! you dont want to crack your new grill.

yeah you should be able to get at it with a butter knife. use a couple and use them to pry the clips at the top of the grill

Re: DOH. Managed to mess up the easiest install..

Yea it definitely would NEVER have fit through the grill. After using a heatgun to warm up the plastic I got it to barely squeeze through and then yanked it open with a pair of pliers.

My permanent fix was to bend the metal tab back so that its one piece of metal. Now when you pull the release you just have to slip your hand behind the grill and pull forward on the bar. Much easier and MUCH better design then the factory retardation..
