Gotta love the city life

So I went out to my car on Friday morning to go to work and this is what I find. As you can imagine I was pissed





I dropped the car off this morning to get fixed.... New hood and fender along with the lights.

Any thoughts on how to combat this besides the obvious "move out of the city"

wow it had to be boston. i went to college in the fenway area and would walk around there for lunch/redsox games all the time and i'd see audis with missing headlights once every so often.

did this happen in your driveway? if not and was on the street, check the area for security cameras

makes me sketchy to drive the audi into boston.

Yeah i park in resident parking, but it was right outside of my apartment. My buddies left my place thurs night around 2 AM and they said my lights where still there.

Un-freaking-believable what people do to cars and other people. That kind of crap makes me livid. I had some people try to rob me while I was fixing my car in my parking lot. It just makes me so mad the mentality that they can just take anything they want from you. It pisses me off!

WTF is wrong with some people? They need to get a job instead of stealing and messing up cars. Check craigslist for them or ebay. Had a friend that recovered his brother's rims by checking online for them everyday. One thing though is that he could identify the rims by some curbage. Might be hard for you to say the lights are yours.

terrible! i live 10 minutes outside boston and everytime i drive into the city to catch a movie or something, im always worried.

a possible solution is to get an aftermarket car alarm and rig it to your headlights. that way as soon as one of them is popped, the alarm will fly and they will have no time for the second light :-)

HID's...and they are only connected by little plastic tabs which you can order online so they are easy to pop out with a screw driver. worth a lot of cake too.

I guess it is a Boston thing.. Boston's finest said that 4 cars were hit in my neighborhood that night. They had nothing helpful to add to the situation.....

My buddy is a mechanic a Herb Chambers BMW and from what he tells me they dont care about the headlights at all. Just the bulbs and igniters.... They actually broke the passengers side headlight and i have the pieces....

They broke the tabs on the head lights and left everthing else in tack... The insurance company just called and said it will be 3500 to fix this... All i can say is f*cking scumbags....

I had a guy come into my work with his eyes all black and blue needing a new cellphone because he got robbed, i asked him what happened he said that they tried to car jack him, naturally i ask what he drives....A B5 A4. I ask where it happened he said Watt Ave in Sacramento, which translates to somewhere in the first 7 miles of my daily commute to work, and the last 7 miles of my commute back home and i live less than a mile off Watt Ave.....down with criminals

i bought my S4 out of boston, and it had had its headlights stolen when the PO still had it. Damage repaired before i bought it though.

dude i'm sorry, definitely a big-city thing. I used to live in Medford and Malden with my B5 S4, I was crazy paranoid about parking it ANYWHERE near Boston. I always parked in well-lit areas and had no problem paying extra for a parking garage. Fortunately I had roommates that I would ride with into the city, and the #1 thing I had to have with an apartment was a secure private garage. I hear that South Boston, and the Backbay/Fenway area are particularly bad. It only takes 30 seconds to yank em out, that's why they're stolen so often, and they sell the ballasts only for $50.

I have progressive and they have no problem replacing this. Its vandilism and therefore not my fault so my premium is not effected either....

Yeah I was super careful as well, but apparently it doesn't matter. I am going to by an off street private spot. Will see what happens. I was talking to the guys at the body shop and they said that you can reinforce the brackets but I guess it just makes them mangles the bodywork even more.....
