    Bi-Xenon aiming HELP!!!!

    Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Ok well i spent 3 hours today installing these things, and i'm getting really tired of this crap.

    I adjusted the beam and all is well xenon connection was loose had to take housing off to repair so i did and i put it all back and i'm where it started the light is low once again, so i turn the adjustment screw and the thing goes up an inch and starts clicking like i've maxed out the screw, and so i turned it the opposite direction till it was maxed out and well it goes down fine then i brought it back up and it maxes at the same spot.

    I really need help here

    Ok.. I have the same lights.. Do you know that there are two adjustment screws on top of the headlight?

    There are two adjustment screws on both headlights which means four adjustment screws total.

    I bet that you are turning the horizontal adjustment screw (I believe its horizontal) (If its called something different please inform me as it would be good to know) in stead of the vertical adjustment.

    My advice to you is to find the other adjustment screws and try that. Don't I mean DON'T strip out the adjustment screw holes because its hard to find replacement screws!!!!

    The outer most screws closest to the fenders on both sides are NOT the screws you want to adjust. Its the other screws closest to the motor are the screws that will adjust the height of the beam.

    Your turning the fine adjusting horizontal screw. Which is the closest to the fender... Yes that will click because it isn't meant to be turned to adjust the height.

    From Bentley:

    * Headlamp (right)

    * Adjusting screw on right headlamp:

    * 1 - Height adjustment screw
    * 2 - Height/lateral adjustment screw

    * Placement on left headlight is similar.

    * To adjust height, turn adjustment screws - 1 - and - 2 - with same number of revolutions.

    * To adjust laterally, turn only adjustment screw - 2 -

    Something must be caught/ blocking the adjustment gears. The only thing I can tell you is to go in there and find out whats blocking it. I have the same problem on my passenger headlight but It starts "clicking" at the perfect height that maxes out.

    Re: Bi-Xenon aiming HELP!!!!

    When you turn on your car, do the auto leveling motors lower the lights then raise them back up?
    If so, with a vag com you could program it so it raises your lights higher than the OEM line pattern...Just a thought. I never did this but I've read that it has been done.

    OK, lets back up and regroup.
    The auto leveling motors are not functional. However, you can adjust the position of the motorized adjuster manually, by pulling out the motor and turning the adjuster to raise the beam. You should center the motorized adjuster to the middle of the adjustment range. then reinstall the motor. Next, look through the openings on the housing and re center the other manual adjuster to mid point in the total range of the screw. Reinstall the headlights, and to raise/lower the beam, you turn both screws the same amount. to change the lateral aim only the inner screw is adjusted. Adjust the beam vertical elevation first, then do the lateral adjustment last. The adjusters should not need a lot of turns to acheive proper aim. If they do, then the housing is not mounted correctly, there should be about 1/8" gap between the bumper and the bottom of the housing.
