my friend thinks he has me, so ive got the 99 a6 avant quattro 2.8v6 with TIP im stock besides intake and synthetic oils, hes got a 99 a4 b5 1.8t 5speed quattro hes got: cone filter intake, front mount, high flow cat, neuspeed catback, neuspeed short shift. so who do you think would win???, i know the 2.8 has more low end than he does for sure, and once i hit 5K the extra valves kick in

he doesnt have a chip and he has some sort of boost leak he is maxing at like 6psi, is it just me or can you noticeably tell the extra intake valves kicking in at 5K on these 2.8's

ok, you should be able to get him, if you know how to drag launch a TIP, and i think it just the way your engine works, lol, valves work at all rpm's

trust me on this one. i had the 99 as sedan, and races my friends stock 1.8t a4. he will take you any time. you can even have a headstart. our a6's are sloooooowwwwww.

I guess it's something like that, the VVT kicks in around 4000rpm iirc... i can hardly tell the difference

Cerfus, as far as i remmember correctly, you keep ur foot on the brake and build your RPMs at the same time, then let go the brake and floor it, but there was a lot of threads on how to lanch a TIP, a lot of the posts were in b5 s4 section, don't quote me tho, just check with others first.

ok maybe my car is messed up but when i floor it all the way it goes good until about 5000rps and there is a noticeable kick in power the intake growl is a lot louder, it compared to riding in a car with VTEC, is it just my car?
