OUCH! Why in the world would you use that? I hope you don't have plans taking it off.
Anyway, 3M Exterior Mounting Tape (4011T) is very thin and will hold really strong. Super easy to take off as well. Leaves no residue.

x2, super glue is definitely not what you want to use. 3M double sided tape is the way to go

    Super glue??

Regardless on whether you plan removing the badge or not, super glue actually burns the paint, and is likely to begin blistering from underneath the badge, to surrounding area.

    Re: Re-attaching emblems

I'd use the 3M tape as mentioned above. Just make sure to remove all of the old tape from the badge and clean it and the car really well first.

    Re: Re-attaching emblems

what about on the grill? I'm about to get a new RS4 grill, and will need to attach my S4 logo to it.

tape definitely won't work since it's kind of 'floating'

    super glue ok for that?

Honestly, I'd wait until you have an RS4 grille installed. You may decide you like without the badge. Otherwise, yes, I'd superglue or epoxy it on there, or make yourself some kind of custom mounting clip.

    Re: Re-attaching emblems

And just for those that need this, proper way to put emblems/badges back on:

    1. Clean all residue from the back of the emblem/badge by using warm water and some sort of adhesive removing agent (Goo Gone for an example). Once clean, handle it with gloves so you don't leave any oils on the area where the adhesive tape will go thus hindering it's effectiveness.
    2. Thoroughly clean the area on the car where the badge goes with adhesive removing agent. Using a hairdryer on low setting will help with removal but be careful not to burn the paint. Note that with all the scrubbing you will most likely strip wax coating so it's a good idea to put on a thick coat of wax before you re-apply the badge.

Seems counter-productive to wax before you apply the emblem. The wax would act in a similar manner to the finger oils you were so careful to avoid...no?

You can't compare wax with oils from your fingers. Besides I'd much rather have a nice coat of it over paint when introducing adhesives. Have done it for years and never had any of the fall off.

Thanks! Just put my "4" back on. Followed your advice and cleaned everything off before hand. The back of the emblem was super grimy and needed to be scrubbed with a firm brush. I also washed the car this afternoon to make sure it was clean and ready to be an S4 (it wasn't very happy being just an "S")
