Ah yes.. and another sick addition to the S4 (w/ pics)

Well since going stage 3 (soon to have fueling) the stocker IC's just dont cut it. Well they never did. So i decided to get the JHM FMIC Here is the end result :

Comparison of stock VS JHM. We did some rough measuring and the JHM is approximately 4.5x times bigger than a stock sidemound.

    Mockup fitting:

Final install. Next weekend its going to paint. The hood is going to repaint anyway so might as well wait til then for the reiger to be painted as well

Because i had no interest in hacking up my S4 bumper. And its not completely finished. I am making shrouds to hide the end tanks and fill in the empty space, so all you see in the middle is intercooler fins.

Yeah, we could have been twins in a past life.

It's a reiger so what i chopped mine up 2, But got rid of it and the intercooler for other reasons. Although i did learn i may have cut way to much but, I think it could also look better.

Good luck, that looks pretty intimidating as well.

That looks like ass. Why don't you just buy an integra and zip tie an intercooler to the front of the bumper. Cutting up a bumper is one of the cheapest looking things you can do to a car. I'm sure it will perform well but...congrats on making your S4 look like a teenage rice mobile.

is anyone concerned with the pressure drop of this FMIC? I've read that there is a 3-5 psi drop while higher quality side mounts are only a 1-2psi drop?

I am a big fan of FMIC's because they vastly outperform when it comes to IAT but if your turbos have to run at 23-25psi to support 20psi it seems that probably outweighs the benefits and could drastically reduce turbo longevity...

again not bagging on the product, I actually have considered this FMIC for my own car, just curious more than anything

That pressure drop occurs at higher pressure. I believe they claim it is 3-5 at 40psi.

I ran this intercooler with no issues. Plenty of people have run this with no issue.

Yup. I have ran this core for a long time and many other K03/K04 guys have ran this core for a long time with great results. The lower temps far outweigh the presure drop.

BTW I ran my now 48k mile K04s with this cooler at 23 to 24 psi for at least a year.

^^Yes there is quite an improvement. There are logs in another post comparing the two and I've done logs with another stage 3 with the FMIC and my IATs were higher. I have AWE SMICs with shrouds.

I'm also debating on getting a FMIC but i just hate how the piping shows. I dont care that i have to cut the bumper but i also use my AC in the summer and having no fan to cool it sucks.

I wonder how it would look if one covered the side vents but than it would stop some air flow.

Here is a log of the same FMIC core that we use (from another AZ member). You can see a large difference.

If you have patience and watch our videos it can turn out nice. Here is one of the many examples from our site that matt posted up higher in this thread.

All the info on our kit here -->http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/ca...3f4e8cd398ac24

That is also why we offer an optional fan kit for those concerned with removing the front fan. We have been fine out here for years with these cores in 100 + degree heat with the A/C on and stop and go with the fan kit we sell with the FMIC if you select it.

Ok, i know this is the wrong thread. But where does that install? Does that go in between the FMIC and the radiator?( I havnt installed my FMIC yet, that is why i am asking)
Goes in place of the factory mechanical fan between the engine and the radiator. Paper and CD instructions (JHM exclusive) included to help out with the install.

Ok, so what about the fan that sits on the other side of the radiator? My car has the afterrun mod done to it. Does that fan have to get romoved? Will this fan spin instead of that one?

    Thanks for your help man!

The electric fan kit just replaces the mechanical fan driving by the belt. The FMIC makes it so you have to get rid of the front A/C fan. The small electric fan you speak of on the passenger side behind the radiator stays.

Just curious (not knocking) as to how those logs are accurate? Were they done at the same exact time/temp etc?

Has anyone else gone from SMIC to FMIC?

I have gone from stock smic's to IPP smic's to the jhm fmic. I have an electric fan kit in place of the stock mechanical fan but no afterrun fan in front due to the fmic and I my engine temps went real high at times this summer while I was driving accross the country. This happened a couple of times. One of the worst was when I hit traffic in Vegas in 115 degree weather. long story short, i had to pull into the first gas station outside of the city to buy bags of ice to put on my engine for a couple miles of traffic on the highway. It got temps to go down, but they had been so high at one point.
