The info you posted for the other guy was helpful... leading me to my problem... which is: Performed all tests till I got to "test box" in reference to pin 23 because I read other than system voltage between 4 and 6 to check for relay activation. Would love to know where to obtain book that you got the info from or any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Original OBD 2 code was P0688 and after messing with it, can now only get a P0600. Thanks.

I just wanted to raise this thread from the dead to thank old guy for being such a badass in general, and also for this link. My B6 died randomly in my driveway today and after pulling no less than a bajillion fault codes and following the procedures outlined in this link I was able to diagnose a faulty J271 ECM voltaqe supply relay.

EDIT: It wasn't the relay. I replaced it and the issue persists. Upon further investigation I found my coil plug harness is shorting. Repair in progress.

Just curious what was the part number for the relay and harness and costs for both? I am in the same mess you are in right now.

My problem was the coil harness, and I rebuilt it with new Oem connectors. They are $15 each from le dealer, but you can find them cheaper.

Currently it's wrapped up in the thick Oem heat shielding and looks just like it did before.
